Youth pastor Grant Grayson committed

I would like to see this happen more often.

Third District Court Judge Bernard Borene approved the civil commitment of Grant Junior Grayson Nov. 25, Rice County Attorney Paul Beaumaster said Tuesday, making the years- long process final.

Grayson, 42, worked at the Northfield Alliance Church, now Cornerstone Community Church, in the late 1990s when he was charged with criminal sexual conduct involving a 12-year-old who he took to his home and on church trips. After serving his sentence, Grayson twice violated his probation, once for being alone with boys under 18.

Silly me. I did not even know this practice was still in existence. Now that I do, there are a few youth pastors who need it.

Youth Pastor Joshua O'Bannion on the run

Have you seen this youth pastor?

JoshuaObannion

Youth Pastor Joshua O’Bannion is on the lamb. He failed to show for his arraignment in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. The police issued an arrest warrant. Be careful, he may be in the company of other Christians. If you see him call the Parma police at 440-887-7340.

Read more about O’Bannion’s original arrest here.

Youth Pastor Robert Carlino convicted

KevinCarlino I love these follow up stories. Former Youth Pastor Carlino admitted to his crimes by pleading guilty. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison. And just to make it clear, Carlino was a freak.

Carlino admitted to downloading images of children engaged in sexual activity from e-mails sent to him and from Internet sites.

Carlino accessed an invitation-only Internet forum with links to various incest chat rooms that are used primarily to share and comment on child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. He then downloaded a folder containing 134 sexually explicit images involving a girl who was about 9 years old when the photos were taken, authorities said.

Yuck… shiver… take a shower to wash of the stench from this loser. I hate writing about this stuff. Nine-years-old… damn.

I’m sure he will ask forgiveness while in prison and upon release seek a job among the Baptists ministering to wayward youth. Because, you know, he will have been forgiven and who are we to judge and he who is without sin should cast the first stone. It makes me sick to think about it.

For more details check out my original post.

Choir Director Peter Bailey sentenced

The girl's brother, now 16, testified he suspected something was amiss, went to the church, and saw Bailey on top of the girl, both naked, her body covered in olive oil…

When I read statements like this I get angry. This is a perfect example of misplaced trust. Peter Bailey was a paroled murderer working as a choir director in a small church. How did he get a position working with children? How did he manage to get time alone with a 12-year-old girl at church? Did prison rehabilitate him? Did God forgive him? Did he deserve a second chance? Bailey should have never been released from prison in the first place, now he's likely to die in one.

PeterBaileyHilo Circuit Judge Glenn Hara sentenced 52-year-old Peter Bailey to 20 years imprisonment on each of four counts of first-degree attempted sex assault for his attack on the girl in the office of the Hamakua Coast Assembly of God Church on July 22, 2007, to run concurrently with each other. Bailey was the church's choir director; the girl was a choir member. Bailey was originally charged with four counts of first-degree sex assault. A jury returned a conviction on the lesser charges.

Bailey was the choir director at Hamakua Coast Assembly of God Church in Hawaii. It’s a small church with no website.

Bailey had his original murder conviction reduced twice while in prison.

Peter Bailey was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for the murder of a 17-year-old girl in 1979, and the paroling authority initially set his minimum sentence at 35 years.

However, a new parole panel in 1990 reduced Bailey's minimum term to 25 years, said Hawai'i Paroling Authority Acting Administrator Max Otani. In 1995, parole officials again reconsidered Bailey's minimum term, and reduced it to 20 years.

And still this murderer got a job at a church. How does this happen?  It easy really, he became a born-again Christian and just like with the idiotic thinking that says one becomes moral when they accept Jesus, the church opened their arms to him thinking that his old life had been washed away in the conversion. Nobody checked out his story. What a shame. A 12-year-old girl suffered for it.  The church should be held accountable.

Bailey has said in court proceedings he became a born-again Christian while in prison, and a parishioner who is familiar with the case said Bailey worked around the church grounds on carpentry and other projects. Bailey also played guitar and sang in the choir.

Church members knew Bailey had been in trouble with the law because he offered testimony about the role religion played in his life when he was involved in drugs and other illegal activities. However, it isn't clear whether the congregation knew he had been convicted of murder.

Pastor Phillip Joubert, Sr. arrested

Rev. Dr. Phillip Charles Joubert, Sr. is a man of God.  He
is a sprit-filled, Christ centered man who has his eyes
firmly fixed on God and our salvation in Jesus.

Um… he’s also an accused pedophile and rapist. Let’s all go to his church!

PhillipJoubert2The Rev. Dr. Phillip Charles Joubert Sr. was charged last month after the victim came forward to police. He pleaded not guilty last week in a Queens court on first-degree rape and other charges and was held without bail. His lawyer has no comment.

The victim told police the 48-year-old minister raped her on July 30. She reported it months later to the 112th precinct in Queens, not far from his Community Baptist Church. He is also pastor of the New Light Missionary Baptist Church in Norwalk, Conn.

There is no news of his arrest on the church website. Just endless bad music and adoration for this latest Baptist predator.

You can read more about Joubert here.

Pastor Skip Ehrlich accused

Apparently Pastor Morris Joseph “Skip” Ehrlic may have manhandle the 80-year-old church volunteer set. Well, at least he stands accused of sexually assaulting an old lady on at least two different occasions. The victim is suing.

Attorney Darrell A. Apffel filed the lawsuit Friday in Judge John Ellisor’s 122nd District Court in Galveston.

The lawsuit also names the Texas City church, Texas Presbytery of New Covenant and its national organization for failure to take action and allowing Ehrlich to continue as pastor.

“It’s a horrible, tragic situation for this lady,” Apffel said of his client, who is named Jane Doe on the lawsuit.

Christian pastors do the weirdest things. Just when I think it can get no worse, another story surfaces that makes me say wtf.

Introducing SecularNEPA

It is my pleasure to introduce SecularNepa, a cool new member of the Atheist Blogroll. Matthew was kind enough to write an introduction.

SecularNEPA is run by Matthew and Hallie Frankle, a rather heathenish married couple in Luzerne County, PA. We got sick of there being very little voice and organization for the non-theists in NEPA. For the uninitiated, NEPA is Northeastern Pennsylvania. Home of such things as kielbasa, anthracite coal, Matthew Lesko and cable television. When one of your area’s notable claims to fame is a guy who wears a suit covered in question marks telling you how to get free money from the government, you know you live in a seriously rockin’ place.

Anywho, we hope this lets the local folk here know that not everyone thinks Big-Invisible-Cloud-Guy is in charge.

Bios!
Matthew Frankle has a B.A. in Psychology from Wilkes University and is currently employed as a mental health case manager. In his spare time he enjoys such alluring activities as camping, playing video games, cooking, antagonizing fundamentalists and of course hanging out with his super-bitchen’ wife. He and his wife have a cat named Minerva, although she would tell you she has two humans named Matthew and Hallie.

Hallie Frankle is an outspoken skeptic, an unapologetic feminist, and a full-time call center monkey. She’ll get around to finishing her RN certification one of these days (i.e. once she can claim in-state residency). When she’s not immersed in pro-choice, civil rights, and secular activism projects, Hallie designs accessories, makes collages, and keeps her husband well-fed (perhaps a little TOO well-fed..-MF) and happy.

I must admit, I do not understand cat owners. I’m a dog man myself. But don’t let his odd choice in pets stop you from visiting this fine new blog. We can’t all be dog owners.

The FlipShare is pretty damn cool

I’ve been evaluating a FlipShare for my work over the past week. We need an idiot proof tool that is easy to use and records at a reasonably high quality level. After trying the FlipShare UltraHD, we bought one as an early holiday gift to the family.

I shot these clips this morning. I combined them together (out of order of course) in a few seconds using FlipShare’s software. I posted it to YouTube a few minutes later. The whole process took less than five minutes. It’s an amazingly simple tool. I’ve only noticed a few small issues. The microphone is too sensitive. It picks up everything. On a few clips from this morning, my heavy breathing was a constant irritant in the background. Also, while shooting in a crowded room, the target of the video was difficult to hear over the background noise. And finally, the zoom is weak when shooting outdoors. But hey, for $150 bucks and no headaches, this is perfect device.

Youth Director Julian Heyman arrested

JulianHeyman Youth Director Julian Sheppard Heyman III has been arrested on charges he molested two girls. I know it is atypical for a catholic to molest girls, as youth director he had access to a broader range of children. It is a sad truth. Who can you trust anymore?

Barbara King, spokeswoman for the Savannah Diocese, said Heyman was employed as director of youth ministries from July 1988 to October 1999 and resigned his position to further his post-graduate education.

"Our Diocese encompasses 80 parishes in southeast Georgia," King said. "He was in charge of coordinating youth leaders for each parish and developing activities for youth and young adults.

The alleged abuse occurred between 1997 and 1998.

Ehsanipoor said two victims reported to sheriff's investigators about two weeks ago they were molested as far back as 1997 and 1998, during the time Heyman was employed with the Diocese.

Both victims were under 10 years of age when the crimes occurred. Under 10… how am I supposed to even write about this crap? It makes me sick.

Misplaced faith

EstelleWalker Estelle Walker almost killed her children. Are we to judge her differently because she did it as a test of faith. She did nothing to feed her children, no work, no charity, no help of any kind. She simply let her kids starve. Estelle Walker expect God to provide food. The kids barely ate at all over three months in 2006. God did not feed  her children, he let them starve instead.

"We were supposed to wait for God to provide," said Walker's oldest daughter, now 21. "And that's what we did."

At one point, the daughter said, she and her siblings went 11 days without food. When police were at last summoned to the Sussex County cabin by neighbors, investigators found the children so malnourished they had difficulty talking.

Estelle Walker was deemed sane. She is refusing to participate in her defense. She thinks God will be her defense. I’m betting she spends a little more time in prison.

My question is simple. Why do the courts and physiatrists see this as the behavior of a sane person? Why can’t they see this for what it is, a delusion from a sick mind. Walker needs to be cured of her faith in God. It’s like a mental disease. Right?

Youth Pastor Jeremy Fulton arrested

fulton Here in America, sex with a 12-year-old girl is considered amoral. Yet another Christian youth pastor allegedly failed to realize this distinction. Youth Pastor Jeremy Fulton was arrested for sexual assault. And guess what, he’s a Baptist.

Prosecutors say Fulton, a 27-year-old minister at Mariner's Temple Baptist Church, befriended the girl and had sex with her, sometimes daily, between July 2007 and October 2009.

Prosecutors believe there is at least one other victim within the church.

Sex with a 12-year-old daily over a two year period… that’s Baptist style Christianity at its best. Check out Mariners' Temple Baptist Church, it’s been around since 1795. Of course, Fulton is not mentioned.

I need a picture of Jeremy Fulton, anybody have one?

Pastor Curtis Franklin arrested

CurtisFranklin2 I read these stories and think, “What a dumb bastard.” I don’t know why I think they are dumb, but I do. I guess it’s because I think anyone of normal intelligence would not be lead to hurt a child. Of course, the real reason is related to ones morals. By now I understand that being a pastor, or by extension a Christian, does give one a leg up in moral behavior. Pastor Curtis Franklin is the latest example. He faces charges of sexual assault on a girl younger than 16.
The sexual conduct took place on at least three occasions at a local residence about six years ago and was not reported until Monday, authorities said. Franklin was arrested Tuesday.
It’s always that Sunday afternoon rape of an innocent child that comes back to haunt you. When will they learn?

Pastor Curtis Franklin is the assistant pastor for Mahwah Full Gospel Church. Perhaps when this is settled and Franklin gets out of prison, he can get a job at the Mahwah half Gospel Church just down the road?

Indecently, the church website does not mention anything about the arrest of its assistant pastor. Move along folks, nothing to see here. Oh wait, a second victim has come forward.

Pastor Robert Lee Adams arrested

RobertAdams2 Authorities have been searching for Pastor Robert Lee Adams for nine-months. He is wanted to molesting young girls. The police arrested him at a Lincoln county home. In a bizarre twist, his wife Teresa Adams was arrested for arranging for a 5-year-old girl to engage in sex-acts with her husband.

Adams’ capture follows the Thursday arrest of his wife, 43-year-old Teresa Gilreath Adams, on allegations that she convinced a 5-year-old girl to engage in sex acts with her husband. Teresa Adams was charged with felony aiding and abetting and jailed under a $35,000 bond.

Adams is alleged to have impregnated a pre-teen girl. He appears to be a man without a a moral compass.

Authorities learned last year that the pastor sexually abused a pre-teen girl for a span of three years that eventually led to her pregnancy, Ramey said. The girl gave birth in the summer of 2008.

Repeat after me, wtf, wtf…

Pastor Keith Pettis arrested

KeithPettis2 It’s been a long week for me. Work demands my full attention. I’ve neglected to mention a few pastors who have joined the ranks of Hypocrisy Watch. Take Pastor Keith Pettis of New Life Christian Center in Lowell. He was arrested back in August on a slew of child sex charges, including statutory tape of a 12-year-old girl.  Pettis has strong support from his church.

“We do not care what the naysayers say,” Montgomery said. “We are here to do one thing: To support him irregardless of what the outcome is.”

The most disturbing news is that he is still the church pastor and leads worship services.

“This is my brother, not only by nature, but by spirit,” he said. “My spirit tells me innocence, and that’s what I’m fighting for.”

What a crock of shit. My spirit tells me… my spirit tells me nothing, my intellect tells me to follow the evidence. So far, it looks like Pettis needs his day in court followed by 30 years in prison.

Just to be clear, this is what Pastor Pettis stands accused of:

Pettis is accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl in his home in August 2006 by performing a sex act on her. He allegedly sexually abused her again on Sept. 1, 2008, and Sept. 20, 2008, then forced her to perform a sex act on him on Feb. 1 of this year.

Pettis also sexually abused the girl on March 15, according to arrest warrants. He was charged with three counts each of sex offense and statutory rape/sex offense and one count each of first-degree sex offense with a child, attempted sex offense and taking indecent liberties with a child.

And yet, his parishioners dare to compare him to OJ.  Does everything come down to race? I think it all comes down to religion.
