The Archbishop of Southwark Peter Smith, who took Mass at the church last weekend, told the congregation that it was ‘with great sadness’ that he had to inform them that ‘an allegation had been made against Monsignor Smith concerning a young person’.
A spokesman for Kent Police confirmed that a 63-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and is currently on bail.

This priest evidently killed himself, confirming what we could all guess, which was that he was guilty, and that many other victims of his were going to come forward also.
It's a shame that more of the victims couldn't have come forward. So many victims take their secret to the grave, living miserable lives until they die.
If you think he was probably innocent - think again. If he was, he would have fought viciously to defend himself.
