Pastor Curtis Grant Arrested

Baptist Pastor Curtis Grant was arrested for sex with a 15-year-old girl. Dumb ass, in Alabama the age of consent is 16.

Authorities say a late evening phone call and a confession led to the arrest of 53-year-old Curtis Grant.

“Curtis Grant is a pastor of Open Door Baptist Church here in Dothan and a volunteer chaplain for the Houston County Sheriff's and a former volunteer chaplain for the Dothan Police Dept.” said Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes.

Friday, the Houston County Sheriff's office charged Pastor Curtis Grant with one count of second degree rape, five counts of sodomy and five counts of enticing a child for immoral purposes.

Sorry about that, I mean Pastor Grant being a chaplain and all. It must suck to arrest a trusted friend.

As usual, his church took down the web page that had info about Grant. Plus they make no mention of his arrests. Move along people, there is nothing to see here.

What about the family of this child? I am a personal friend of the family and my daughter is best friends with the child. Your action of mentioning and speaking of this horrible situation in this manner is just as bad as the actions of this man. What if she comes across this site? I did. How do you think the child will feel. Won't you be causing her further harm?

Are you out of your mind? There is no comparison between raping a child and printing a story about the about. Jesus... you people are nuts.

In the last year I have been invited to dinner with the victims of clergy sexual abuse. I've received at least a dozen heart felt thank you notes from victims. I've provided a place where they can vent, and vent they do. My experience, and the experience of my readers is that the victims are helped.

...continued, all would not fit in last post... Lest we forget he is a man!!!...and not God!!!This was never God's will. This man did a wicked, manipulative thing to this child,family and community. This is a PRIME example of "self will run riot"...All of us battle with selfishness to a different degree. We have to be careful not to judge, because the very thing we say we will NEVER do becomes the very thing we do.
I agree actions like this cause disillusionment with God IF we fail to realize that man is falible. We forget that we all act on our OWN free will. Yes, pastors should be held to higher standards; but, they are humans, as we are. In all levels of society, things like this happen. Pastors, Teachers, Fathers, Homeless people, Dog Handlers, Doctors, Dentists, Police Men, Firemen...the list goes on... What I am trying to say is ALL sects of society are "prone" to this..If youpost EVERYONE that commits these terrible acts on your blog, your blog could probablyn ot handle the bandwidth! It does not prove to me that there is not a God.What it does show is how much MORE we are in need of God and a Savior!

I am not trying to prove there is no God. Where did you get that ideal. Heck, I don't even thing it is possible (its called agnosticism btw). I make these posts to keep a record of pastor misconduct so that the next church down the road will not hire this pedophile, and to prove a point. Pastors have not any more moral because they no God. I'm constantly told I have no moral grounding because I am an atheist. Not so if the actions of the hypocrites are taken into account.

Pretty soon this guy will be on the pedafile list. There will be no covering anything up then. I am glad that this face can forever be viewed, as he is one that could possibly harm a child. His church, however, who is ashamed and suffering enough, shouldn't have to suffer for his mistakes. Oh they will suffer, but why torture them by leaving their site up attached to his name. Them removing the information from their web site was a result of their shame and dismissing him as pastor. I would be very concerned if they didn't immediatly remove his info. He was no longer qualified and brought shame to the name of Christ. I would think if they did decide to mention on their web site of this tragedy, it would take them some time to get past the shame, and the grieving stage of the victims before they could think straight to post what God would have them to on the church web site for all the world to see. How do we know how this has affected the individual running their web site?

Continued . . .Thing is, maybe we should take a step back and think this through. We don't know all the details nor the victims. What we do know is Curtis Otha Grant of Dothan, Alabama confessed to raping a child and for that he is guilty. That is wickedness. He will not go unpunished. I can guarantee that.

My husband and I went to Bible College with this man. We were close to him and his wife and children. Would never seen this coming. It just validates to me even more that Satan is out to destroy. If we don't keep our relationships right with God, our spouses, children, etc. we are all capable of heinous acts. I feel HORRIBLE for the precious young girl who has forever been violated. I appreciate the above comment of the woman who is close to the victim and family. Continue to protect, love and encourage them. Your heart is exactly right. You stand up for them at every opportunity.

The Bible speaks of wolves in sheep's clothing. Not only do they wear a nice suit and tie, but by looking at them, you can't tell then from any other sheep. What makes them even more dangerous, is that church people are brainwashed into venerating these people, they put them up on a pedestal. "Touch not God's anointed" they say. So the people are in FEAR of God's retribution if they ever dare to oppose these men in any way. It puts these men in a position of control. They are flatterers and manipulators. They win your confidence.....

they surround themselves with loyal followers whop beleive everything they say...but the Bible also warns that we shouldn't put our trust in Man. It also tells us to "try the spirits". One way to try a man to see what he is made of is to see what he does when he's backed into a corner. Wolves are COWARDS by nature, they are much bolder in packs, the alpha wolf keeps his henchmen organized and obedient.. They try to frighten the true sheep into running so they can pick off the weak. It was second degree rape, which is statutory, which means she consented, she wanted it as bad, if not more than him, went to that church, knew both families, see how this "precious young girl" acted the last few years, nothings changed, I think shes a whore, and grant is a better man and person in my eyes for confessing, even when he could have gotten away with it all, the whole trial was based on his testimony against his testimony against himself, there was no real evidence

I pulled court records to see the truth for myself. First degree rape is forcible rape. The pastor was charged with second degree rape. If you are so big and bad why don't you reveal your true identity?? Or will you hide behind lies?? I do not care how you try to slander me - I don't mind being the bad guy, but I'm not going to continue to let lies about Curtis Grant circulate. Regardless of what he did, he's a good man in my book for coming forward. He shouldn't have gotten any jail time, but the DA wanted to make an example out of him. She should suffer the same fate.

@Pissed, there is no need for threats, this is a blog where everyone can express their opinion on THIS particular matter - this post is not meant for threatening messages or accusations towards anyone else, and I'm sure you have dirty laundry that could be put on here as well -- Fact is, according to several news reports, Grant was arrested for Rape 2nd, which is statutory rape, which means the other person consented, but was 15 years of age, when age of consent is 16 in Alabama. I feel bad for both families, but it took a lot of guts for a man to turn himself in and make a report on himself when he didn't have to. He fessed up, and took responsibility, and pled guilty I hate it because there were two consenting parties but only one person had to pay, and he will pay for the rest of his life. Where were the girl's parents in all of this? Why would they allow a girl to be alone with a man his age to have sex multiple times?? It sounds like the parents didn't care - or maybe they were ok with it - and offered her to the pastor like a cult type thing, but that is just speculation. What isn't is the fact that there is a fair share of blame on all sides of the table.
