A dead balloon

balloon

I saw this balloon in the gutter outside my house early yesterday and was immediately taken back to my childhood. The movie The Red Balloon was a standard of 1960’s era primary school time fillers. I've seen it at least a dozen times. It won the Palme d’Or for short films back in 1956 so by the time I was in grade school it was how teachers exposed young minds to art. I think it worked. I’ve dreamed about red balloons my whole life.

How about this: that balloon represents the innocence of a clergy abuse victim. Sorry. I guess I'm still thinking about those nightmares you were talking about.

oh man...

They go like this. I'm sitting in a catholic church and I see the boys helping the priest. Somehow I know what will happen but I cannot speak or move. The priest leads them away while looking back at me. I wake up... so pissed.
Ouch, Vjack. As I was enjoying this post, as it was taking me back to my childhood, and all those warm and fuzzy feelings – then I read your comment – ouch!
It looks so forlorn.
