Marcus McDowell goes to prison

Former Pepperdine professor and pastor Marcus McDowell was sentenced to prison yesterday. One of his victims posted this in the comment thread of a previous post.

sentence is 3 years, 4 months plus the five years probation sex offenders get, plus he has to register as a sex offender and pay for our therapy.

i have never been so happy to see anyone walked away in cuffs.

thank you to all those that supported us through this.

The family of the first victim in this case was kind enough to invite me to dinner last night. I could not go because of my vacation travel plans, but I was there in spirit. I want to thank the victim for coming forward. It took a great deal of personal integrity to stand up and hold this man accountable for his crimes. I hope the sentence will help you heal with some sense of justice.

Thank you, Mojoey, for speaking your mind and in so doing showing your support for victims of crime by those they trusted. The good you do for those who so often will not be believed or supported by people in authority is immeasurable. I am sorry you couldn't join us for dinner. It would have been nice to thank you in person. I hope you enjoyed your vacation!

I thought you might like to know that he will be released on June 23, 2010--one year and eight months after his sentencing.

ok u people dont have a clue who this even is. i know the man personally and think he is one great person. does that justify what he did? no of course not, but they were far in the past. He is one great man and i trust him very well. He has a great family and is an all around amazing guy. Mojoey doesnt even know, if he, "folowed his closely" he would know that much about him. I also like how all you bastards try to portray his picture as looking like a molester but think for a second, the police came and took him out of his house at close to 1 in the morning, you would look like that too. Hope youve read my post and maybe you should think about the big picture and his family before you degrade his dignity...

The Truth is a lie. McDowell is a convicted pedophile who misused his position of authority for personal sexual pleasure. I don't want to know him like you claim too. Yuck. He degraded himself and disgraced his family. He did it all by hiself. Stop trying to paint him the victim or as some sad misunderstoond saint. He's a child molesting creep who should never be afforded a postion of authority or respect again.

people, get a life! he is a productive human being who was railroaded by so called "do gooders" his professional and personal life is a shambles because of people who were vindictive and small minded. Was he wrong? yes, did he deserve to be persecuted like this ? NO
