The warrant was issued Dec. 31, 2013. Shahan was arrested the next day, New Year's Day, at the Nashville airport as he was attempting to board a plane to Germany. He waived extradition at a hearing earlier this week in Tennessee, and was returned to Jefferson County Wednesday.
After being booked into the jail and undergoing the jail classification process, Shahan's classification status is "violent, general population." However, sheriff's officials said for now he remains held in protective custody for his own safety.Protective custody for the violent murder of his wife... That sounds pastorish.
