Pastor Mark Lewis arrested

Baptist Pastor Mark lewis was arrested on suspicion of arson after people he sent allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail at a house with six people inside.

In the most recent incident, according to a press release, Vacaville police received a 911 call at 3:30 a.m. Thursday from someone inside a residence on Chateau Circle who said a Molotov cocktail had been thrown into their home.

Police said no one was injured and damage to the home was minor, as the residents were able to put out the fire before firefighters and police officers arrived. Six people, including three children, were asleep inside the residence at the time of the incident, police said.

Mark Lewis is the pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church in Vacaville California. He was arrested with three other people who claimed to be homeless and living at the church.

I cannot understand why anyone would try to burn a house full of people down, let alone a pastor. Nor can I understand how this crime was not booked as attempted murder.

I read Lewis' bio on the church homepage. I find this statement revealing.

Having only some “formal training” in the ministry, but lifelong training as a preacher’s kid, Pastor completely relied on the Lord’s leading for such a calling.

Decode this and we find that Lewis is uneducated, a lifelong Baptist and the son of a Baptist preacher. How this qualifies anyone to run a church I'll never understand. Nor will I understand why people follow him or men like him.

Correction: 1/13/14 - Pastor Mark Lewis did not throw the Molotov cocktail. He allegedly conspired with others to do so. Also, the people arrested were not all men. It was two men and one woman.
