Youth pastor Samuel Yoon arrested

Youth pastor Samuel Yoon New Community Mission Church in San Leandro, Ca., was arrested at a Orlando youth conference for soliciting prostitution with an underage teen girl. Yoon was expecting to meet a 14-year-old girl.

Did I mention that Yoon is a Southern Baptist?

im sure the evidence will prove his guilt. the "good husband and father" was the very description of the pastor who molested me at 12-13 years old. look at the facts and be objective.

Dear Appletree & Yelena

We are going thru some events that are unbelievable sometimes in our lives.
But one thing we have to keep in mind is that any human is so fragile and does not deserve full and everlasting trust whoever he or she is. There is only one we can fully trust, who is God.
I do not believe myself fully either because I am also vulnerable to any temptation and likely surrender to sins anytime due to my weak faith and strong physical desires. But I am just trying to avoid confronting the situation.
As an ordinary man, I guess sexual desire can be a tool of the devil that makes anyone surrender to sinful desires and that is what the world have been facing ever since because of human's falling and greed.
I hope all the people who have been hurt from the event will be healed soon.

The United States justice system has always stated that a man accused of a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Unfortunately, our society and media doesn't seem to agree.

I knew of a teacher once who was accused of sexually abusing a female student. Because of these allegations, he had to resign from his post and under go trial. During this time, the truth about the entire matter wasn't certain, but it was a little sickening to hear other teachers, his fellow colleagues, talking about his ordeal, often with very negative comments. The trial pronounced him innocent. It turns out, the girl came from a troubled family, and the teacher and his wife had been helping her out. The father had forced his daughter to lie. In the end, though he was innocent, the teacher had lost his job, which he loved so much, and many of the people he'd known and trusted doubted his integrity. It was very sad.

In another case, we have the Boston Marathon bombing. There were two cases in which bombing suspects were arrested, but they were not the actual perpetrators. However, though they had not been fully investigated or given a trial, their names were already given to the public, presumably by the police. One of the arrested was an adolescent boy who, in tears, said he ran in marathons himself and repeatedly had to explain that he had nothing to do with the incident. He and the other man were eventually released, but you can imagine the harm done by faulty media.

Looking at this situation logically, there is a video of Pastor Sam Yoon walking into a hotel room to link him to this crime. However, logically this only proves that he had been physically at that location. There is no tangible proof that he was indeed there with knowledge of what kind of place that was, or whether he really intended to carry out such a horrendous act. In fact, it is even a possibility that he had been there by accident. But really, until the trial is run and the facts are laid out and assessed, we don't know the truth.

Police officers, excited with their success of capture, release names of suspects to the media, which will then blow up these cases into flashy stories to boost their audience ratings, although no detailed investigations have taken place. And sadly, we as members of society like to condemn, and more than anything, we'd like to blame these kinds of figures for the problems and failures of our generations. While by the word of the law, this country claims to treat suspects innocent until they have had fair trial, it's quite different when it comes to our society. But one thing is for sure. He is innocent, until he is proven guilty.

@Appletree: I don't believe you are foolish or blind to choose to believe in Pastor Sam, because you yourself have known him and seen what kind of person he is.

And as for the rest of the more skeptical, be skeptical! It's important to be on guard, because terrible things happen in this world. But at the same time, we need to keep in mind that the things we hear and see through the media aren't always the "truth." The truth is something we can obtain only by educating and informing ourselves so we can make a reasonable, logical decision.

A small clarification is in order. You said, "The United States justice system has always stated that a man accused of a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Unfortunately, our society and media doesn't seem to agree." This is not the case. Most American's support innocent until proven guilty. We also support a free press and the ability to form our own opinions from the facts available to us.

I've followed over 1,400o cases of clergy sexual abuse and clergy sex related crimes. So far, there have been four found not guilty. Btw… a jury does not pronounce people innocent, just not guilty.

Trying to link other cases to Yoons in an attempt to suggest we should suspend judgement makes not sense. Yoon's case has nothing to do with your teacher friend or the Boston Marathon bombing. In fact, the bombing is the wrong kind of analogy. Yoon was not arrested as a suspect after the commission of a crime. He was arrested during the commission of a crime. His case is like getting cause in a speeding ticket, except that he was allegedly trying to sleep with a young teen.

And the facts… are overwhelming. He responded to an add for an underage girl online. There is forensic evidence to support it. He drove to the liaison. He offered to commit lewd acts. All of this evidence paints the pastor as a predator, and if you read this blog at all, you know that I have thousands of other cases documented.

Believe your fantasy if you must. My bet is that Yoon is going down.

@Appletree

You are pathetic for making excuses for him. Simply just pathetic.
This man is a pedophile and it doesn't matter how much he claims he saw "God" or "Jesus". This man suffers from pedophilia, a psychiatric disorder. I don't care how much you know him, it shows you that you can't always trust people in this world. Yes, it is sad, however, this man needs to take responsibility. He is the one who physically searched online and drove to a location to have sex with a 14 year old. He is responsible.
It shows everybody that people are people. There are good and bad everywhere.

@Mojoey @

You said it best. Samuel Yoon is the one who actually committed the acts of physically searching for an underage girl and physically driving to a location for sex with a 14 year old.
What will he argue for defense?
To "save" the girl?
That he was possessed?

People that defend him are corrupted. They feel that just because he was a christian youth "leader" means that there must be a mistake in the whole matter. That is flawed thinking.
Yoon suffered from pedophilia.

This man is most likely guilty

Appletree, I agree that you are in denial. If he is innocent then why did he resign? An innocent man should not resign. It only proves his guilt. Secondly, if he was innocent your senior church leaders should have stuck behind him. But they didn't. But most of all, he was caught on camera in the hotel for crying out loud! That is cold evidence! Why did he physically drive to the hotel that night? What was his reason to go to a random hotel while he was at a Christian conference? The fact that you go to NCMC also shows you are biased. You are too close to the pastor to make an objective opinion on the matter. Your feelings are too subjective. To me its a pretty cut and clear case of what he did. Look him in the eye and ask him before the Lord if he went to that hotel room with intention to have sex with a 14 year old.

Appletree you're in a Korean church. This is typical in a Korean church. Pastors and leaders in denial, afraid to talk about taboo subjects such as porn, incest, etc... I am a 2nd gen Korean American pastor in a large Korean church and this is why the Korean churches are losing it. Countless pastors and worship leaders afraid to confront the issues. All Korean senior pastors and elders care about are the 3 B's. Budgets, buildings, and butts in the seats. Most of them don't care about the real issues that need to be dealt with. Pastors with sex addictions is one of them. Get out of the Korean bubble you are living in and open your eyes.

@anonymous.... I couldn't of said it better. I'm a 2nd generation Korean Christian and I totally agree with you ! Let's pray for Appletree and NCMC!

Appletree what is your church's e-mail contact? I am willing to help in whatever way I can. I am a youth pastor also and would like to help your youth ministry during this dark hour. You all are in my prayers.

Appletree said...

You dont know him so you cant really say anything. I know that it looks like I am pathetic and in denial but I guess I was right. People do really believe what the media says

Appletree said...

Lets just wait and see.

Appletree said...

He resigned because even if he was innocent, people would not believe him. Coming back to the church would cause us to be more infamous then we already are. And also, it would be obvious that he would still feel guily and that we would never feel the same way about him again.

Appletree said...

Isnt there something called hope and believing?Well I guess not...

Appletree said...

Thank you so much for your concern, unlike others. But I do not feel comfortable giving someone our email. Besides, I am in no positon to give it. But please do pray for us.^ ^

I go to NCMC as well, and you need to give it a rest. That fact is we don't know what happened, your only a kid, you couldn't possibly understand. The court will decide. The fact that a man has sinned is not news, when u get older u will realize everyone is wildly imperfect

OK.so he replied to an ad to meet and have sex with a 14 year old. He was told a location and arrived at the location to meet the 14 year old to have sex. He shows up to the hotel/motel of the 14 year old. Is given the room number and shows up to that specific room of the 14 year old. Come on people. Don't be stupid. He is a pedo.

He certainly knew what he was soliciting. The fact is he was caught straight up and knew full well and was caught on video. Certainly Christ doesn't hate him in fact he exposes us in many different ways so we may turn from our sinful nature. Don't stand so blindly with anyone. Christ forgives those who confess and forgives us but we must repent. He is guilty straight up.I watched it with my own eyes.

Anonymous said...

So what was the actual verdict?

Anonymous said...

What are the underlying issues of you not being comfortable about giving out your church's email. To me it seems secret societyish.

Anonymous said...

Actually you are much better able to judge someone you don't know. That is why juries are Made up of people you don't know.

I knew this dude (If blogger wants to verify, I can with him). He was a weirdo. I don't know if he's ever boned a kid before, but it didn't surprise me that he tried to.

old thread, but stumbled upon this video today.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTzduQTR9SU

It was clear what he was expecting from the 14 year old.
