Police don’t investigate sins Pastor Jack Schaap

Sins… let’s call it what it really is. If the police are investigating anything, it is an alleged crime; not a sin. Right pastor John Schaap?
Jack Schaap, 54, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Hammond since 2001, was fired by a deacon board, said Eddie Wilson, director of public relations for the church.
Wilson said Tuesday church officials didn’t believe anything criminal occurred, but information was turned over to the sheriff’s department “for the sake of transparency and honesty.”
I have my fingers cross with this case. I don’t want this to be another story of abuse. I don’t want to hear that another child was hurt. Please be infidelity or something to do with money. Please…. I am afraid it is something to do with sex though.
“They’re trying to reconcile their marriage,” Wilson said. “The church will move on and begin the process of calling a new pastor.”
The “they” in the quote above is pastor Jack Schaap and his wife Cindy. Reconciliation sounds a lot like the have marital issues to work out.

The First Baptist Church of Hammondis a mega church with 15,000 members. They did the right thing and went public with a press release.
First Baptist Church Pastor Dismissed
Hammond, IN–At this time, we deeply regret the need to announce that First Baptist Church has dismissed our pastor, Dr. Jack Schaap, due to a sin that has caused him to forfeit his right to be our pastor. First Baptist Church is in full cooperation with our local authorities in their investigation of this matter. Our church grieves over the need to take this action and the impact it will have on our people.
We ask that everyone pray for the families involved and pray that the situation will be handled in a Christ honoring manner. We look forward to the days ahead as we continue to service the needs of our surrounding community and the Chicago area.
For any media-related questions, please contact First Baptist Church spokesman, Eddie Wilson at (219) 945-6475.

I have been told that Schapp left his cellphone at the pulpit and someone found it and went thru it. Found inappropriate pics on it of a young girl he was "counseling". She just turned 17. The question is how long had he been going on with her and what are the laws in Indiana about legal age of consent. This is NOT the first sexual sin/perversion to come out of First Baptist Church. I sense a pattern......

Jeez....."SpellItRight".....really?? You are judging these guys for their spelling and ignoring the fact that one of the most arrogant, judgemental, and high profile church leaders in the country who (by the way, ADMITTED) to having sex with a teenager......wow, talk about drinking the Kool-Aid.....Schaap has spoken at my church several times over the last 15 years.... he is a pig and disgrace to the name of Jesus Christ.
This site confirms MoJoey's comments:
ARTICLE: A church spokesman could not confirm Kee’s information, but he did say Schaap was in an improper relationship with a young woman and that they thought she was above the age of consent.

Weather or not if this young women was of the age of consent a preacher has a moral obligation not to F@ck the sheep.Just another example of the corruption of faith by the shepherds.
As a Roman Catholic, I will sarcastically say that if Protestants just let pastors marry, they wouldnt have these problems

I don't know who you are but what makes you think you have the right to judge anybody? The last time i check, only Jesus is perfect. You need to get your facts straight before you say anything.

By the way, if someone decided to point out everything you've done wrong, i am sure it's worse then Pastor Schaap's.

She was a teen going to him for counseling for sexual abuse. She was transported over state lines for sexual purposes.

It's not the first scandal connected to the Hyles legacy. Google "Preying from the Pulpit". They still have the audio on youtube. It was taken from a news mini series produced by WJBK of Detroit, Michigan conecting all the cases that went back to that church and College.

One of the worst cases was back in 1993 a deacon from that church, A.V. Ballenger, was sentenced to 5 yrs in prison for molesting a 7 yr old girl from their Sunday School.

In the last video, you will hear the voice of Jack Schaap mention the 7 yr old victim, that she was once a bus rider on his bus. He insinuated that she came on to him.

I doubt this is the first time he took advantage of a girl.

Wisdom Hunter (a novel published in 1991, and still on the market today) illustrates the destructiveness of dictatorial and authoritarian pastors. Many consider the book to be a “classic”. The author graduated from Tennessee Temple University, and grew up in the Independent Baptist camp. When the book was first released, it was banned at many Independent Baptist churches, even Bob Jones University. Maybe the author had something to say that was, and is, worth listening to.
