I normally like closing the books on these pedopastor cases, but not this time. Former youth pastor Matthew Jonas Overstreet was convicted of raping a 15-year-old girl and was sentenced to just 7 years probation. In fact, if he completes probation, his conviction will not appear on his record. What a travesty of justice. In a few short years Overstreet can move to a new church and start in as a youth pastor once again. A records check will not show his conviction and he is not a registered sex offender. How is this justice?
The judge was Robert T. Dry Jr. His term is up in 2012. Texans – don’t let him back on the bench.
