Pastor Stephen Berry arrested (again)

stephenBerryPastor Stephen Berry was arrested the first time back in March. This new arrest is for a second allegation of abuse against a 13-year-old girl he is alleged to have molested he was driving a church bus.

…and charged with lewd act on a child under the age of 16 by the Union County Sheriff’s Office. According to the warrant, Berry is accused of rubbing a 13-year-old girl’s upper thighs while transporting her from New Life Baptist Church to her home in the summer of 2008.

Berry is a Baptist. He was an associate pastor at New Life Baptist Church in Union. The church does not acknowledge the abuse on it’s website, which is typical for a Baptist church. It would be nice to see a change here. It would actually help a lot of people to simply acknowledge the abuse and get on with the business of helping victims heal.

One would certainly hope that this church would have to answer some questions about why this guy was allowed anywhere near children following his first arrest. But I suppose the fact that they probably won't is exactly why this is such a problem.

He no longer worked at the church after Jan 2011 after the church found out he was having relations with another adult female- the first arrest came from a young girl you spoke out about her encounter with him after hearing about his relations with the adult - the church had no knowledge of him being with a minor at that point - the second arrest came after a second allegation arose after a month of the spreading knowledge of the first allegation with a minor - so you see - the church knew nothing of his problem with minors - only of his immoral relations with an adult female - fired him - THEN the allegations came with the minors - so dont blame the church for this man's sins!!!!
Exactly Vjack ! They are ,and should be held criminally negligent in there handling of this matter . Forced to pay damages ,and made to close they're doors until they comply with common sense standards of operations.
