Pastor William Blanscet convicted

Pastor William J. Blanscet was sentenced to 90 days in jail for exposing himself to an undercover police office. Blanscet thought the officer was a child.

According to court documents, Blanscet was online in a chat room when he began to ask sexually explicit questions to an investigator with the Utah Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force who was posing as a young girl.

During other online conversations, Blanscet showed his genitals and would masturbate in front of a Web camera, according to charges. One incident where Blanscet exposed himself occurred while he used the Internet while visiting his wife in the hospital, charges state.

90-days seems light, but Blanscet’s career is over, so the punishment fits the crime. He did not hurt anyone after all.

Blanscet was a non-denominational Christian.

Blanscet is known by his screen name "Happy Utah Man" and is a pastor at the Church of God of Prophecy at 425 North 700 West in Salt Lake City.
