I found this interesting quote on a blog while surfing:
This post is not about any certain pastor, but about how the position of the local pastor has weakened greatly in the public arena. Pastors used to be among the most trusted of people in the community...now I would suspect the position of pastor/minister most likely ranks just above politician (barely) and just below plumber for most people.
He makes a compelling plea for good pastoral leadership in the rest of his post. I fear it will be fruitless. To quote the great sportscaster Chick Hearn, The mustard is off the hot dog. Pastor are tying to be something other that the post was designed for. The are not simply leaders of a flock, a few seek power and dominion. And we know where that leads
