Rev. Phillip Jacobs

Once a child molester…

Rev. Phillip Jacobs, formerly of Columbus and removed for molesting a boy in the early 9os, was arrested in Canada for molesting boys in St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Saanich. I guess the church did not do to much to hunt down former molesting priests after it became apparent that shuffling them around the world was ineffective. The police are releasing few details.

Jacobs is charged with sexual assault, sexual exploitation and sexual interference, which refers to sexual touching.

I’m sure there is more to the story, unraveling the cover-up alone will be interesting.

A question for Catholics: How do you release a know pedophile and sexual predator back into service among children? How do you sleep at night?

yah good point. they sleep at night because they can go to confession, say a few hila marys etc, and then they are as good as new. like it never even happened.

pious maundering hypocrites....clannish, secretve and sinister.

Tony, you Catholics are all the same! You always look for reasons to excuse the filthy, homosexual Priests that are prevalent everywhere in the Catholic faith. If the Pope were to allow Priests to marry, instead of ridiculously preventing them from doing so, due to outdated tradition, there would be far less of their perverted behaviour in the system. The Catholic religion is full of hypocrites such as you....Religion has killed more good people in history in the name of "GOD" than any other cause. Child molestation is just one more good reason NOT to get involved in religion at all!!!

This man has been teaching in my college in Saudi, I thought that he is a friendly and kind person. In Canada he was covering himself with a religious cover, and In my country, he was covering himself with an ideal person cover.

Wish him very harmful-difficult PUNISHMENT

I beg to differ with Jaffer. Phillip Jacobs was indeed the English department chairman at Jubail University College. He never let on to the fact that he had been a Catholic priest. He arrived here in September 2007.

Phil Jacobs proved himself to be lacking in any of the qualities one might expect to find in a man of God and a man of the church. We knew that he was a dishonest, mean spirited, spiteful and malevolent individual. In fact Jacobs was very a hypocrit, a sycophant with the Saudi leadership of the university and a bully to his colleagues. However, this information about his past has left us all gobsmacked.

Phil Jacobs‘ arrest and history has now spread like wildfire here. It is highly embarassing for the administration of JUC as well as to a small group of his supporters among the faculty of the English department. For others, it comes as a great relief, as Dr. Jacobs was hated and despised for his ruthless ways. He was instrumental in having four of his colleagues fired from JUC in June of 2010.

Phillip Jacobs worked with young men aged 18 to 24 here. His access to younger boys was limited. However, he took a couple of trips to the desert with some of the students. He also had a health club membership at the Jubail Intercontinental Hotel. It is possible that he could have indulged in his evil ways during his frequent visits there.

It is also very possible that he indulged in his perversions with some of the young Bangladeshi janitors who clean the classrooms of JUC and of whom he seemed quite fond of.

While I am at it, I should mention that Phillip Jacobs is an expert at reinventing himself as well as rewriting his past. We could perhaps rename him “the Reverend Walter Mitty.”

When asked about his past and whether he had ever been married, Jacobs would tell his audience at Jubail University College that he had once been happily married and that he and his wife were the perfect image of marital bliss. Then, clearing his throat, he would go on telling us that his beloved wife had one day fallen sick and was later diagnosed with cancer while pregnant with their child.

A daughter was born a few months later, but his wife would tragically not survive her cancer and pass away soon after their daughter’s birth.

By that time, Jacobs could no longer control his tears and his sobs. Tears welling up in his eyes, Jacobs would then continue and tell his audience that to add calamity to tragedy, his daughter had soon fallen ill and also died from cancer.

Jacobs was so convincing that many of us thought that the reason why he often seemed so stuffy and withdrawn was that he was a scarred person, silently suffering from some unbearable personal agony.

Well, we are now all aware that it was all lies and we should perhaps nominate Jacobs for a best performance Oscar for an actor. That man can most certainly tell a lie or two!!!

All in all, most sober and level headed people who came across Jacobs will unanimously join me in condenming the sad character by the name of Philip Jacobs aka the pedophile sex criminal.

When Father Phil was in Victoria, we approached him asking if he would marry us - thinking he was young, personable and would therefore be a fresh take on an otherwise traditional Catholic wedding ceremony. However, in our first meeting with him, he discovered I was baptised a Lutheran, and immediately went on to tell me in not so many words, that because I was not a Catholic I was basically not a Christian and was going to go to hell. I could however go to the 'ladies' group to learn to become a Catholic. My fiance and I debated with him saying that it was important to lead honerable lives everyday, and that by simply asking God for forgiveness was not an 'out'. All this was before there was any knowledge of former abuse. In the end, he did not marry us, because we could not agree, and an old old priest married us, and he was the most modern, fun and insiteful person. Looks, age, history can sure be deceiving!
