Eric Roldan was arrested during a bible study. He’s alleged to have raped a 7-year-old girl repeatedly over the course of the year. Trust is something earned, that should be in the bible someplace.
Roldan attended the church and gained access to the girl after befriending her father, prosecutors said. He is accused of sexually assaulting the girl in her home, where he would often visit with her father, the report stated.
I don’t normally do stories on the rank and file, but the guy allegedly raped a child. He deserves the harsh spotlight of public scrutiny, so does the too trusting father, and the church that befriended him.

If someone with the right kind of words wanted something you had, he could probably get you to trust him enough that he would have his chance in time. How far are we suppose to go in not trusting people? The less we trust others the closer we are to shutting all out from our lives. I understand that giving trust to someone when it involves a child, we should be much less willing to give it. From the article you linked to, I have no idea of how long he worked on this family before he had gained their trust enough to be left in a position to commit these acts. This is one of the problems with just reading such a small article, it doesn't tell us enough to make sound decisions all the time.
