Youth pastor Chris Evans arrested

Repeat after me, never trust your kids to a youth pastor.

Bail was set at $250,000 Wednesday for a youth minister at a Clermont County church charged with the sexual battery of a 15-year-old girl.

Christopher E. Evans, 39, a full-time minister since November 2007 at Saltair Church of Christ on Ohio 222 in Tate Township, was arrested Tuesday on the felony charge.

Evans is alleged to have an ongoing sexual relationship with the girl since July. His wife turned him in.

Evans has resigned as youth minister for the congregation of about 400 people, Wickline said. The nondenominational church was founded in 1948. Its Web site calls it "a down-home country church where folks are still the salt of the Earth."

…and our youth pastors are thoroughly screened and monitored, or maybe not…

A quick check of the church website shows not indication of a problem, no acknowledgement of scandal, and no picture of the alleged child molester, although Chris Evan is still listed as the Youth Minister. Then again, I am not so sure they’ve figured out how to update their website. Brother Bob’s blog was last updated in June. I don’t think these people embrace he web.
