By now, anyone who uses the internet to hook up with young girls for illicit sex must know they run the risk of a law enforcement sting. Especially pastors…
Greenville Police arrested John David Helmuth Tuesday in an internet predator sting. He faces 10 charges of criminal solicitation of a minor and one count of attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor. If convicted, Helmut faces 10 years in prison on each count of solicitation and 20 years on the criminal sexual conduct charge.
Helmuth is a pastor at Tabernacle of Faith in Piedmont.
In case you are wondering, this was no casual event. Helmuth pursued the relationship.
Over the course of the next month and a half, Helmut encouraged the person he believed to be a 13-year-old girl to engage in sexually explicit activity, according to warrants.
It’s getting to the point where I think we need some way to tell the true Christians from the fakers. Perhaps a tattoo or some such?
