Catholic Missionary indicted for child molestation

Fairfield University must be proud. The Jesuit institution produced catholic missionary Doug Perlitz from its class of 92. He was indicted this month for sexual abuse in Haiti. At least nine children are involved.

The University is trying to distance itself from Perez. They are finding it hard since they had him as their commencement speaker in 2002.  Oops.

Catholic workers are particularly vulnerable to false charges- ironic additional victims of priests and church leaders involved in these crimes.

In this case, watch for additional evidence to come to light, and for various motives for accusations such as these from a small subset of the relatively large at-risk population that Doug worked with in Haiti. Commencement speakers are not chosen without care, and Fairfield Universlty may, in the end, reaffirm that it made a wise choice, if not an easy one.

I don't agree. Catholic workers are not special nor are they more vulnerable to false charges. You made that up.

Doug... Doug has some explaining to do. The facts that are coming to light make him look like a monster. I somehow doubt your optimism. I think that this too will end in a embarrassing mistake for the Catholic church.
Thoughtful critic is very wise. Persons spend a lifetime earning an honorable reputation. Thank goodness for this indictment being in the United States of America where we are "Presumed Innocent". It is so false allegations can be exposed and the righteous allowed to live and be free.

Yep - a person spend a lifetime building up a reputation only to see it come crashing down around his ears when they starting fucking children. I see your point.
