I see nutballs, now twice daily

Nutball in a truck

It’s the weirdest thing. I ran into this nutball in a parking lot in Buena Park. I’m really close to him with a big lens so my shot is crap. But the old nutter sees me shoot a picture and starts yelling that I’m from the CIA. I make a quick get away. But later I notice him in my rear view mirror. I think he is following me. I was able to lose him at a long signal because I jumped on the freeway.

This morning I looked in my rear view mirror and see this damn truck again. He cruised right by me without any trouble, so I’m pretty sure he was not stalking me. But then on my ride home this afternoon, he is in my mirror once again; and follows quite close, and points my way. I’m getting a little worried now, but he does not follow me home. I’m taking a new route to work tomorrow.

I had a similar experience last summer. I'd just bought Taleb's "The Black Swan", and for about 2 weeks (on about 10 separate occasions) I kept seeing another bloke (the same bloke on all occasions) reading the same book (well, a different copy, but you know what I mean) all over the place, even in pubs, cafes, etc. I very rarely went to or had never been in before.

Kind of ironic too, considering the book we were reading.

Never seen him since, though.

I read that book. I embarrassed myself horribly with my boss by calling it the black pelican.
Oops! At least you were on the right track and didn't say "tortoise" or "umbrella". ;-)
be careful. nutballs are unpredictable.
I saw that guy a couple days ago. I never understood why people would do such a thing to their vehicles. Isn't a giant sticker in the back window enough?? Maybe one window flag?
When I saw your headline and then read the sign on the truck I thought, "Wow! I'm not going to be able to agree with Mojoey on this one." Then I read the post and understand.

Kind of an odd duck right? And a little over the top.
I see him on the 405 all the time, usually blaring music...makes gridlock that much worse when he's around.
If he would stick to something simple like: Remember the fallen - Support the wounded - Thank a veteran and skip the other wackiness, he might get some respect.
Why is it whackos like that are always so paranoid? Did he think driving around in something like that would help him avoid attention?

I don't know. The last thing I want to do is talk to him.
