Another reason not to become a Christian

Baptism can kill...

Four drown during baptism

Four people drowned on Sunday morning during two separate church baptism ceremonies in Eldorado Park in Johannesburg and Bloemfontein in the Free State, police said.

Everything about this story sounds wrong. Who would jump in a fast moving river in Africa? If the current don’t get you, the snakes, crocodiles, hippos, or various other bad animals will. And all for what? You get to go to heaven when you die… which is in five minutes if you set foot in that friggen river.

Like I've always said, Christians are Dying to get into heaven instead of living for today.
There were two separate baptisms in which people died? I guess they didn't communicate with each other, 'cause if they did you'd think the first group would have mentioned to the second that this is a "really bad idea"...

I am sure they would have talked, but the first group was kind of dead already.
If you drown during a baptism... does it count? Do you end up in Heaven? Or is it invalid because you neglected to resurface?
Holy crap... these are different from the ones I wrote about here:

4 teens drowned at one baptism service at a private man-made pond, and then 3 others at yet a different one. ALL in Africa. Is there something wrong with the waters in Africa

I'm thinking they don't know who to swim.
It is a standing, albeit racist joke, in South Africa that the indigenous African people are referred to as "non-swimmers."

There are plenty of weird varieties of xtian religion in South Africa (all very profitable) as well as more traditional superstitions involving witchdoctors, faith healers, etc.
According to the reports it was the baptizERS not the baptizEE that got swept away.
