An Atheist writer asserts Atheism is a religion - that's kind of crazy. Note to writer, don't feed the Christian any more talking point.
Atheism is the fourth most popular religion in the world with approximately a billion followers, yet most do not understand it. They stereotype non-believers as cynical, dangerous rebels. They think that without a God, one can feel no sense of purpose, and therefore will not strive to accomplish anything. This is lunacy as atheists such as Albert Einstein, Abraham Lincoln, and Mark Twain have made some of the most notable contributions. In fact, on Time magazine's list of the millennium's 100 most important people, 5 of the top 10 are atheist.
China has a billion atheists, but are they really? When the state decides your religion, or lack thereof, can you honestly be called an Atheist, Muslim, Christian or Jew (or any of the other belief systems I have left out)? I don't think so.
It is like when Christians claim America is a Christian Nation - in my head I hear (beside the "other" voices), "No it's not".

Firstly, on my behalf, do bring to the attention of that writer that Albert Einstein was not an atheist, in even the slightest sense of the word.
He was a Jew, and he firmly believed in the existence of God.In fact, that is why he refused to accept the chaotic theory of Quantum Mechanics, and in that context only, he famously said, "God Doesn't Play Dice", because he didn't accept that at the quantum level, the behaviour of entities is purely random and chaotic.
I used to be an agnostic, but I have returned to believing, after reasoning out extensively both sides of the coin.
