Youth Pastor Torrey Morgan arrested

The charges against former youth pastor Torrey Morgan are serious.

One count of disseminating harmful material to a minor under 18 years of age (felony) One count of disseminating harmful material to a minor under 16 years of age (felony) two counts of indecent liberties with a child (Felony) two counts of second degree sexual exploitation of a minor (Felony)

There are several alleged victims. The case is a classic fail. The leadership had no idea there was abuse happening. Morgan's former church fired the pastor after he admitted to extensive sexual immorality.

"It is the primary responsibility of our leadership to look after the well being of the people at High Rock Church. Therefore, as a result of his confession, we have released Torrey from his position of pastor and revoked his ordination. We are still trying to discover the full scope of the circumstances, and there may be other actions placed against him. We will keep you posted as things develop," Johnson added.

It was a sad day for the people of High Rock Church, but at least they took some of the steps necessary to start the healing.

I don't know the whole story, of course, but I can guess at some things. This guy knew he had a problem and was told Jesus could fix it. So he decided he'd not only be a Christian, but a super Christian--a pastor. Surely then his abnormal sexual appetite would abate. Once again, though, Jesus didn't come through.

I think this man was not listening for the message! Jesus always comes thru but we have to be open to hearing what He is saying!

This "He" doesn't work very well, does "He" if you can only hear what he is saying by already believing what he is saying? No, Jesus is as effective as the Easter Bunny...

I knew this man. We were in the same youth group for about 3 or 4 years. (roughly 94 to 97) I am completely shocked, personally, but you just never know what someone else struggles with.

He was dismissed from more than one previous church, going as far back as twelve years ago. He has also been arrested now in another county. Questions were brought to the church by various members and visitors over the last three years and they were brushed aside or ignored. Every time the same answer was given. Oh you misunderstood, or He would never do that. I am sorry but the leadership failed to do it's duty. It blatantly ignored the warning signs. It repeatedly failed to enforce the very standards it placed before others in the church.

Agreed. Like I said, it's hard for me to believe he would do things like this (granted I haven't been around him for over 10 years), so I can imagine how others wouldn't believe it of him if he continued to carry himself as when I knew him. But as you said, things like that should not go ignored, no matter how much one wants to believe the best in someone like that. I feel bad for the victims. Perhaps now this will stop him from making more.

I personally knew he was dismissed from a previous church appx. 3 years ago for such actions. The pastor of that church dismissed his duties in that church as well. Perhaps, if that pastor had taken this sad and serious matter further then such a thing would of not continued onward with other young girls. In my opinion, I guess some think they are above or can get away with such actions simply by becoming a youth director. In my personal opinion he definitely is not one of God's chosen shepherds to lead His flock.
