Are you an angry atheist?

I don't know any angry atheists. I'm not. I'm normally a pretty mellow guy as are my atheist friends. But I do get angry with religion on occasion. I think it's best summed up for me as I'm tired of having religion and religious people stick a a big nasty finger in my eye. I respond through writing and activism. There are over 5,000 posts on this blog. Most are manifestations of my simple form of anger.

And… I love Gretta Christina. She tops the list of atheists I want to meet.

I think the "Angry Atheist" is a bit of a myth. Atheists may get angry about various things but I do not think atheists are angry in general.

If Christian's want to apply the "Angry Atheist" label on me for the things that upset me then they need to apply the following labels too: Angry Liberal, Angry Parent, Angry Tech Guy, etc...

I think many atheists, and young evangelicals for that matter, are upset about many of the same things. As a theist, I watched this video and was like, ya, I'm angry about all of that stuff too. For me, I'm through with religion, for her, she's through with God as well. Different strokes for different folks I guess. I thought the video was great though, and I really think she hit the nail on the head when she said religion doesn't have a reality check. Because it's based on invisible forces, and immaterial things, you can never completely disprove it. That is dangerous. I wrote about it on my blog. www.goddamblog.com
