Youth pastor Dirk Jackson took a plea deal after being accused of molesting a young girl back in 2003 and 2004 when she was 12. The victim came forward when she realized Jackson was a youth pastor at a local church with access to children. No one had believed her when she reported the abuse as a child.
Now a woman, the victim said no one believed her back then. But when she recently saw Jackson at a different church, she feared he had access to other young potential victims and reported her allegations to the sheriff's office.
"As soon as I found out he was a youth pastor and found out what church he was going to, I decided it was time for me to say something, because I couldn't let that happen to somebody else," she said.
Jackson maintained his innocence until just recently. He has a wife and two young children. Now he will spend 2 to 3 years in prison, and he will never be able to work around kids again. It’s a win for everyone except his family.
