I beat the hell out of pastors here on my blog. But I am also reminded, by a constant flow of emails I might add, that pastors sometimes do the right thing. Take pastor Pete Baker of the Fairfax Assembly of God Church. When he found out about allegations of sexual abuse on the part of Fairfax Middle School vice principal and congregant Donald Ricketts, Baker dispensed good advice and then called the police.
He said the family of the girl first reported the allegations to him, in mid-April. Baker said he then explained what he'd been told to Ricketts and recommended he call his wife, tell his boss and go home -- which Ricketts did. Baker said he also immediately contacted the Sheriff's Department.
The victim in this case is a 14-year-old girl who claims she was molested over three years on multiple occasions, mostly at church. It will be interesting to see the evidence.
