Pastor Michael Sward arrested

I don’t have much on this story yet. Apparently 27-year-old music minister Michael Sward was arrested for having sex with a 17-year-old congregant down in Vero Beach, Florida. He’s charged with unlawful sex with a minor.

I think everyone needs to mind their own business. I highly doubt you know them, so don't be so quick to judge either of them. THAT and the fact that they go to church is IRRELEVANT. Whether they were Christians or not, they were human. So I think everyone should stop making such a big deal.

I know them too. He is NOT a scumbag. Like I said, he's human, If he's a scumbag, we ALL are; NOBODY IS PERFECT. Anyway, I really don't think it's anyones business to know the details @Gateway, just my opinion. This whole situation makes me sad.. I agree with you, she really isn't completely innocent. I remember the other situation she was in a few years ago. I can't help but still love them, I am gonna try to remember to keep them in my prayers.

It is not our duty to give forth information or to judge this. It is not far to either party to have the details blasted in comments. The minor under the law has the right to remain anonymous.

Foul deeds will rise (Peace) as the bard would say. There is no such thing as private details when a monster rapes a child. Except those that protect the identity of the minor in question.We are all grown ups here,who do you wish to protect ?

It makes me sick that when someone who isn't in ministry rapes a child, he is a monster, but when a minister does it, he is "only human." The law is the law and I really don't care who or what you are.
It is important to realize that those who would defend this man are the same people who would throw stones at any other adult caught in this situation. And as far as personal details are concerned, the right to privacy is obsolete when you are a registered sex offender.
If he was so enamored with her, he could wait a year and have legal sex with her behind his wife's back and have all the privacy he wants. I just don't see the justification here. Anyone that is acting like it should be a forgive and forget situation is a hypocrite. Also, he is the ADULT here. if she stripped her clothes off and jumped him in the shower, he should still stop it from happening. Minors are not given legal right to make their own decisions because they lack judgement. And I can guarantee that he didn't care about that when he took his clothes off. I mean what is his defense going to be? She wanted it? Please.

Funny, if "Peace" didn't know the person, they'd probably hold a different stance on the matter. That is the definition of hypocrisy. And if the information is a public matter / news there is not need to protect private rights unless it is the name of the minor in question. Regardless of whether it was consensual or not the guy is wrong. The bible says it clear as day, your morals and ethics protect it. Now you are turning your back on it when it hits a little too close to home? You can't accept and condone a rapist and adulterer and at the same time turn away the same who is asking for God in his heart- but it happens. The guy needs to have the same treatment as every other low-life that performs the act. Just because you belong to a religious affiliation doesn't excuse you in the eyes of the law.

I know him, and I know the girl. He is not a scumbag,and they both made a mistake. Just like I do, just like you do, christians do make mistakes and slip up. Just because we are christian does not mean that we are perfect, so you should really think before you post such a judgemental remark. As far as the situation it is unfortunate that it happened, but I don't think any differently of the girl, and I still love her. I will be praying for both of them.

I do not know the people involved, there was details on her in the comments that clued in to who the girls was. They have since been deleted as they should be. The minor has the right to stay unanimous.

I am not sure who the gilr is, however I do know the gentleman that is in this mess. I do feel it is none of everyones business, although yes they have now kind of made it our business. I believe what he did was wrong however the girl is just as much in the wrong. If her parents had been worried about their daughter being around him then they should have been watching her! Why is it that his name should be dragged through the mud, while she sits home and plays "barbies" come on now people she is not innocent either.

EnYou need to stop and think about what you are saying.The young man did wrong, but shes almost 19 and acts alot older than she is. so know he should not be ped as a rapiest. A rapiest dose stuff that unthinkable. This man had sex with a young girl that will be a lady in a few months. So think about what you are saying before you write something as stuid like what i have read a few comments here.text right here!

i love Michael Sward, and so does Jesus!! he is one of the most nicest people i have ever met! don't be so quick to judge, cause you probably have made mistakes too!! he is very faithful, and i love his family!!! i also love the 17 year old girl(:

I'm so shocked that someone just told me about this. I am thankful that it wasn't in God's plan for us to be together anymore all those years ago or I may have been the wife everyone is feeling sorry for as a result of this story. I can't imagine the betrayal his wife and children must feel! All the good memories I had of Michael have been completely shattered :/.

I know him, and he is still a snake. His wife is sweet as pie, and a very good mommy. He is still unfaithful and treats her like dirt. He wasn't a minister at the church. He was a music minister. Not even sure if he is a believer. But even a church member should not do this with a child. I think maybe he should have gone to jail. He hasn't learned from his mistakes. Partly I blame his family, they make excuses for him. They always take his side, even when he is wrong. Too much false pride in that family.
