Another pastor, another 14-year-old girl

It’s an epidemic of creepiness. Youth pastor Sean Feltman pleaded not guilty to charges he attempted to lure a teen into a sexual relationship. Technically, Feltman was the director of youth at Willamette Community Church. It’s not clear if his duties included pastoring, we know he was allegedly pestering at least one young girl

Police say they began to investigate Feltman on Jan. 9, when the parents of a 14-year-old girl who attends the church youth group reported their daughter received sexually explicit text messages and online messages from the man.

I’ve asked this questions a few times now. What is it about pastors and 14-year-old girls. I’ll have to check the statistics to see if 14-year-old girls are more likely to be victims of this type of sexual abuse than say a 17-year-old. What do you think?

Do you ever throw up anything that shows Pastors that actually don't commit these sort of crimes? They outnumber those who do them. I'm not saying there are not a ton of hypocrites in Christiandom, I'm just saying that only focusing on the negative aspects without blogging on the positive is a biased and warped perspective at best. I can admit there are atheists who live more morally responsible than many Christians, why not admit that Christianity has produced some good results and has done some good in communities across the globe? Just saying...

Mike - send me examples of the good and I will be happy to post them. In fact, I'll be open to allowing guest posts from pastor who are doing good things. I know good pastors and good Christians... balance is good.
Thank you so much for what you are doing with this. I am a close friend of this particular pedo-pastors ex-wife, he was also an abusive husband. I can also confirm that the allegations against him are completely true.
I hope she gets the help she needs to heal.

Moejoey ,has a better tolerance on the priesthood than I .Even if a pastor or Rev-end,or priest is doing positive things in their community ? You know like not raping the kids ! They are still dealers in the Jesus drug that afflicts the mind of so many innocent people ! They are still no better than Crack dealers ! And the damage their drug dose is far worse ! A mind is a terrible thing to waste on religion !
Maybe the girls are witches, seducing the poor pastors. Burn them!

I'm sure that mentally exists. I hear variations on "they wanted it" all the time.
I hope Rusty was just trying to be funny? Burning women as witches unfortunately is still being perpetrated on the women of West Africa by deluded Christians.
I just got a link to your site and have been reading your listings of pedo-pastors for the last hour now. Not only am I transfixed -- but I am not surprised and I am even looking to see if there are any "youth pastors" that I know of from my youth.

My father was a staunch Methodist and in the interest, I guess of my growing up "right" I was a participant in every church youth thing you could think of, from church camp, to youth groups, to youth prayer groups, to even a traveling youth choir that wore tacky polyester outfits and sand horrid "modern" gospel music to churches within a bus-ride or overnight trip.

I remember distinctly that church-camp was a hotbed of sexual tension, where young teens would have all day and night to congregate, flirt and experiment with little supervision. The worse part is that counselors and even the participating "chaperone" pastors just couldn't resist attempting to get in on the fun. Being sexually active by the time I was 13 due to other interference into my life, I was acutely aware of the sexual overtones of their "interest" in the girls and due to my low self esteem, actually welcomed it as my sexuality was the only ticket I knew to being noticed.

While Catholic priests have been publicly condemned for their pederast tendencies, I am troubled by two aspects of this: that the public outrage is almost exclusively over boys being perverted -- some getting handsome lawsuits for even being touched in the "wrong places", girls and the Protestant denominations are almost entirely overlooked.

The idea that a 17 year old male being subjected to improper touching by a priest is a crime worthy of a long prison sentence, but a 13 or 14 year old being girl being seduced by a skilled, manipulative man is nothing but the girl's own fault has done emotional damage to me and millions of women I'm sure.

To answer the question about 14 year old girls: I don't know what it is, but I remember that by the time I turned 12, and I have to mention I was no early "bloomer" in the sense of the word -- male attention was amplified from nearly 0 to 100 -- and most of it from mature men, not my peers who I have to say had a few years to catch up to compete with the svelte attentions of a mature, 30 or 40 year old man.

Thanks for your attention to this issue and keep up your good work. While the damage was done to me years ago, knowing that some people can see through the BS helps to heal a very deep, hurt part of me.

I can tell you this - clergy sexual abuse is every bit as active in protestant churches as it is in the Catholic church. Independent churches seem to be he worst for a lot of reasons.
First people need to get their information strait. This guy is in no way a "pastor" he has never been to any religious college, he was "ordained" by the waco religious leaders of Albanys "living water christian assembly" pastor larry and vivian vogal, who by the way have no formal "christian" college training. Churches need to do their "do dillagence" when hiring people that work with our children! So not only was this person messed up in the head, it brings into question the integrity of the person that hired him.
