Pedophile priest commits suicide

Convicted pedophile and former Roman Catholic priest Dale Crampton killed himself up in Canada on Tuesday.

For nine years, Father Dale Crampton served at Nepean's St. Maurice Church and was a school trustee in the late 1970's.

In 1986, he pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting seven altar boys, between the ages of 10 and 14, from 1973 to 1982.

He served eight months in prison after his suspended sentence was appealed in 1987.

I bet suicide looks real good when you realize that you devastated the lives of innocent children and dishonored your vows. He was old and alone, and guilty as hell. It was a just end to a corrupt life.

Could we get any nastier?

Any loss of life, particularly from deep despair, is a loss to us all. This takes the same approach as all those despicable people who rejoice ay the suicides of young gay men and lesbians.

Is it morally equivalent to compare teens who are bullied into committing suicide with a grown man who take his own life of his own free will? No - it is not. And people have the right to take their own lives, it may not be pretty, but it is still a decision we are all capable of making for yourself. If a pedophile chooses to end his own life, I will not morn the loss of his life. I don't care if he killed himself or if he died of natural causes.
