Pastor Grady Ponds and his wife Rhonda Jean Ponds were arrested for allegedly possessing child porn. Their church, the Mount Carmel United Methodist Church in Bamberg, finally 
got around to suspending pastor Ponds, but only for 90 days. I’m sure this whole mess will be cleared up in 90 days.
The state attorney general's office said that search turned up at least one computer containing images of child pornography. The Ponds were booked in Bamberg and released on $10,000 personal recognizance bonds.
Each has been charged with one count of third degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Pastor and his wife are living at the parsonage. I’m not sure that is a good idea.
Pastor Ponds and his wife at this time are still living in the parsonage and still receiving pay. He will not have any credentials taken away at this time. The decision for suspension is simply done for protection where the congregation is concerned.
I would love to hear the back story on this one.
