Youth Pastor Cecil Seay arrested

CecilSeay Sexting seems to be irresistible to youth pastors with impulse control problems. Youth Pastor Cecil Wayne Seay of Baypoint church in Holiday, Florida, stands accused of sending sexually orientated text messages to a 14-year-old girl.

He allegedly typed:

I touch myself thinking of you like I never should.

If you were here, would you kiss me like that?

Heck, I don’t know what else to say besides dumbass. By now, every youth pastor in the country should know that sexting will end your career and could even land you in jail.

There is one bit of news I don’t get. The girl’s school principal notified the senior pastor, Brian Brown, instead of the police. Brown did the right thing.

"This allegation is troubling and regrettable," Brown wrote. "Our focus is on the welfare of the victim, the family involved, and all concerned. It is now in the hands of the judicial system, where it should rightly be."

The principal… should be fired did the right thing.

I agree that the first call should have been to the police but I am wondering why he seems to be the first to know of this message? Did she show it to him, did he read it because she broke some rule while in school, or did he hear rumors and ask her? He should have also informed the parents before he informed the senior pastor. I do agree that he needed to call the senior pastor to ensure that he knew that this guy was sexting minors.
Dont you people understand that there is a chain of command just like anywhere else. the sr pastor is the one that handles stuff like that. Juat like in school the principal handles that stuff. It is his (sr pastor) duty to take it to the proper channels. And im sure the parents were called into the office as well to have the situaition handled. I have NO DOUBT that this was handle in the best and proper way it could of been handled.

I agree with Krystal. I don't think that principal was sidestepping the law. I'm sure he knew the pastor would take care of things in the right way. Chain of command.

Ok yes the school is at the church. and as soon as the one person found out they took it to the Sr Pastor and the Sr Pastor Notified the police and the parents right then and there. And YES the church is the school. So YES there is a chain of commands that need to be followed.. It took less then an hr for the Sr Pastor to get the news along with calling the police and the perents of the one involved. So Yes it went threw who it was suppose to and how it was suppose to go.

When you are at work or school then you have to notify the teacher or go to the princeipal right? Then the prince. is the one that calls the proper people that need to be called Right? ok so this is the same way that this went. There is still a chain of command.. So no the Sr pastor is NOT IN THE WONG AND HANDLED IT EXACTLY HOW IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE HANDLED.

I do believe it was handled the right way. Just a warning, I would be careful as to what you put in print. Up until I read your posts, I was not aware that this was a student at the school. The news stories reported that she was a student in the youth ministry. They said nothing of the fact that she was a student at the school. Some things are better off unsaid. There is no need to drag the school principal or the school through the mud.

I agree mojo.Regardless if it is a child in the school or the ministry there both the same people. (meaning the same chain of comands.) The whole point is that i am on here defending the church and all the ministrys. Baypointe church is an amazing church and she not be attacked by people who dont know what happend. The person that did this has paid the price. He will never be able to be a youth pastor again and has major charges pending on him. I feel bad for the child involved in this case. I have been threw some pretty rough things in my life much worse then this around the same age and the person got off scott free. But the point is people judge by what the read befor the have any type of facts. Baypointe has helped me threw so much stuff in my life and there main goal is to help the family in need at this and through this time. The sr pastor and staff are amazing people and are ALWAYS looking for the best interest of the children. And they have handled this is a very timly manner and the way that it was suppose to be done...

I totally agree with Krystal....it was handled in the exact way it should have been. I think you missed my point. According to all the news reports, it was never said that she went to the school at the church. It only stated that she attended the Weds. night youth group, which this man was over. According to your previous comments Krystal, you made it quite clear she was a student at the school and therefore that justified the school principal going to the senior pastor. I was under the assumption she did not attend the school. All the reports I read said she went to the youth group but mentioned nothing of her attending the school. If she went to a public school, then the principal would have contacted the police first thing, because by law he is a mandadted reporter and has to go directly to the police with any suspicions. If the principal did not work for the pastor, his chain of command would not include calling the church to speak to the pastor, he would be obligated to call the police, and that is what is meant by chain of command....

I did not mean to offend anyone, I was just wanting to make the point that up until I read your post, I had no clue she was a student at the school, where this man worked, on a daily basis, with all the children there. My fear is you may have opened up a whole "can of worms" by letting everyone know she indeed did attend the school and was with him everyday. I think everyone agrees that this has been handled properly, and the staff at Baypointe have totally stepped up to the plate in all aspects in dealing with this matter.

Ok, I am just catching up on all the comments... I am confused. Krystal, were you there? Because maybe you can clarify for me... Was she or was she not a student at the school? According to the news reports, she was just a part of the youth group. The reason I ask is I have worked in the education field for many years. If she went to the school also, then yes, the chain of command applies and it was handled properly. However, if she didn't go to that school, the principal of her school should have went directly to the police, according to the federal laws concerning minors. So which is it, if anyone knows?
Excuse me all...but i personally know this man and this is all false! all of it...this poor excuse for a girl made it all up because she felt STUPID after she made it clear to him that she liked him and he wanted nothing to do with her...so she made it all up! NIce thing to do considering bible college??? weird huh..but considering they do not take these things lightly and of course the man is immediately accused they of course believed her...see what kind of messed up world we live it...this situation was handle extremely wrong! God will provide Justice...

unknown...did you read the articles? Listen to the newscast? It stated that he signed a written confession. I pray it isn't true, but all the facts point to the fact that it is, and if you add the written confession to the evidence it doesn't look good. Baconsbud...no it is not a free pass. God does forgive if we ask for it AND are sincere, but the consequences are there for the one who sinned and those it affected.

Baypointe Church is at fault here as well. The Minister Brian Brown brought a person with no background for ministry or training whatsoever into a situation where he was responsible and had access to children Maybe a youth leader should be married before given a postion like this? While this would not stop all potential issues it would be safer and prudent. Maybe a youth leader should be a high school graduate? Apparently, the standards at baypointe church are bottom of the barrel. Sadly, this is not that suprising considering the Head pastor is HIGHLY unqualified to hold his position-so why would he show sense and maturity when selecting leaders for his church when he himself is a fraud............If people do not have enough warnings about this church by now, then they are blind and pathetic.

I think Unknown needs to research and get the facts. This DID happen. Mr Seay DID admit to it in writing, signed sealed and delivered. A child has been abused by a person in power, a church deceived, youth ministry in shock. The Pastor did an EXCELLENT job keeping his Church up to date with information as it came available. This was handled properly with the exception of Mr Seay. Cecil Seay own up to your mistakes take ownership of your sin. My concern is for the fiance also. Child have you considered your life with this man, no longer able to be a leader in a church. Followed by his sins for the rest of your life together. Chased from neighborhoods for fear he will attempt this again. Your young and you need to think your life thru before you take a leap of matrimony. Wait and see what comes. God always opens a door for you once one is shut. Keep your eyes open. Continue to befriend but if this is love and meant to be it will still be there for you when the dust settles. Are you willing to wait? Is he willing to wait? What is the rush on the marriage.
i know this person and the church this happened at very well. i think both cecil and the church are to blame. frist off cecil should have no right working with youth in the first place. from what i know of him he offers no respectable qualities that teens in a youth group can follow. i really hope that justice was served and that he has to sign up as a sex offender. the church is a vast pool of lulled to sleep Christians that are lead by a man that should not be in charge. brian brown is a second rate Christian and a third rate pastor. i can only apologize to the community for the action of an other Christian. please do not let what cecil has done reflect on other Chritians you might know. thanks

Cecil Seay now owns a business called Takeout Hero, a food delivery business in Lakeland, FL. He cheated on his wife with several women and she only found out after he confused after thousands of dollars in a spending spree for motels, beer, and food.. as a results bouncing checks to restaurants he does business with. The worst offense was when he cheated on her with a barely 18 year old girl who worked for him who just graduated from High School in their own home where his wife and child lived.
