Pastor Ronald Burning arrested

Canadian Pastor Ronald Burning was arrested while trying to cross into the United States at the Sarnia border crossing. Burning is a Baptist pastor. He stands accused of abusing a 14-year-old girl.

Ontario Provincial Police had issued an arrest warrant earlier in the day for Ronald Burning, pastor of the Johnsfield Baptist Church in Ohsweken, near Brantford.

Acting Sergeant Aaron McPhail said Burning faces eight charges involving three victims, some of which date from the 1970s and others more recently. They include two counts of sexual assault, anal intercourse, sexual exploitation of a child, rape, intercourse with a female under 14, indecent act on a female and forcible confinement.

Why would he run to the United States? We put pedophiles away for much longer than Canada.

He wasn't running to the United States he has has family in the states, and that is why he was travelling on Christmas eve to see them. If you think for one second that the reason he was going to the states was to flee hah, you are all just creating lies and rumors. Everyone knows that that would be the first place you would get picked up.

I know this pastor very well and I am going to believe he is innocent until he is PROVEN without a doubt that he is 100% guilty. I will not believe it until there is credible evidence in court. Isn't this supposed to be a "innocent until proven guilty" society? Well if the court system worked properly and didn't rely on a jury of your "peers" (people who have most likely already made up their minds before hearing evidence) then maybe that would be true but that never seems to be the case. I'm just saying they BETTER have physical evidence and not just a statement from some women, 2 men I know went to jail for rape and they were 100% innocent, the woman lied and didn't want to admit that she cheated on her boyfriend. I also had a friend lied to her parents about being raped and made her press charges and ANOTHER innocent man I knew went to jail without enough evidence. I agree that the people who actually do this should be of course dealt with and in my own opinion left there to rot in jail for life. And if there is evidence that he did it then I will believe it. But if there isn't physical evidence of the allegations its just another woman crying rape for attention which is something I am so tired of. If he did it justice will hopefully be served.

If he turned out guilty that'd be one thing but Good Lord, people-stop actng like you're all omniscient or something. The justice system is there to protect us from mob rule and media whores looking for drama.

I have known Ron Burning for almost 25 years. I know his family and church. I consider him a good friend. I also know the depraved conduct of many offended church members and the damage these people can cause to a minister and his life's work. Being a preacher that sticks to his guns can make many enemies ... and Ron Burning is a GREAT preacher who does not compromise the Word of God for anyone's shallow sensibilities or opinions. He has brought the gospel to First Nations people across the North American continent for many years. I stand by my friend!!! The reactions of the mindless lemmings are disturbing but typical. And the press is always quick to spin their hype and lead their lemmings along ... especially when it involves a man of God. People like Eve and Mojoey will continue to spew their mind numbing garbage no matter what is said. The press has already made up their minds for them. Peep wholes? lol. What nonsense! I suppose you've looked through them too! 1 in 500 are innocent of the charges? What an interesting pseudo-fact! I'll bet you studied through those 600 case studies too!! So, my opinion? Would be totally different if there wasnt one from the past and 2 recent... I just dont see how a child could make up such lies! And Im allowed to my OPINIONS and OBVIOUSLY so are you... Why are you getting so upset? So you must be close with Pastor Burning? Like family? Is that why? Well at least we no he isnt QUEER!!! The Rez? Umm... No I don't live on Six Nations... I feel bad for the ppl of his church and only the LORD knows the TRUTH!!!! I understand that there is such a thing as a spiritual war fare and we live in it and thro it everyday. I also believe that ppl who go to church and read The BIBLE are attacked more spiritual then the ones that dont attend or read the bible.

P.S. Were you at the court house when he brought to the stand?

I have known the Burning Family for many years and I have also known the accusers for many years as well.... This will all come to light... Pastor Ron has my 100% support... He is a wonderful family man, and a man of God.... This is in Gods hands now, He is the almighty judge....

Being a Pastor has nothing to do with whether people think he is innocent or not... Being a Pastor is his JOB, yes it does define him to some extent... You are right, he is a man like everyone else.... I have known him for years and I beleive in his innocence... It really is sad that people can make accusations about others and it can completley change someones life. We all need to step back and look at the whole picture instead of jumping on the "guilty" bandwagon. Everyone loves slander, especially on the rez. Have you given any thought as to who the accusers are? I have, and that really helped me decide he is innocent.

If for one second you people think that the almighty Mr. Ron Burning is innocent then you have been brain washed like the rest of the people on this so called site..........is this a christian site for all christian ppl....and to hear the trash that you are posting out of your mouth....shame on each and everyone of you. Now think.....it don't matter if you are christian or not..you are just like any other human being with all the negativity and harsh words out of each of your christian or non christian mouth......get over it......he is a man that has committed a crime....and yes he will be found guility and put in prision with rest of the sick @#$#$%# where he should be............I am just sorry that his wife and children and the family that he married in to have to go around with their head up to overcome the embarassement of this mans actions, that should have happened many years ago.

Why isn't there anything said about the so called "victims" or is it better said "accusers"? Everyone knows everyones business on the rez so I'm sure people know who they are. A thief wanted by the police, a known drug user, a pathalogical liar....the list of adjectives to describe them could go on and on but a "scarred for life victim" is not one of them. Its time to focus on who these people truly are. What contribution have they made to the community besides being a detriment, and prime example of disturbed, self-destructive, people who blame others for their problems instead of looking in the mirror at the true source of it all.

Wake up Folks this is the year 2010, we are still calling women whores and liars for coming forward. This is why SA is such a secret. This must have taken a lot of strength on their part and they must have had and angel on their shoulder. Sorry to the family should be coming from the pastor Burning because obviously something occurred for this much information to get out. He should also do what is right to help the healing process. Innocent or Guilty it shouldn't matter it is about forgiveness and healing, not name calling or belittling.

Victims of SA need to be beleived, that is why they are writing on this site and speaking out... they want someone to listen to them...I do beleive in innocent until proven guilty....however more victims have come forward ... this is a very sick man...God Bless his family
