Another Catholic Priest accused of abuse

This time the priest is from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The alleged crime took place 30 years ago. The priest maintains his innocence.

Monsignor Michael Flood, 71, pastor of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish in Glenside, was named late last week in a civil lawsuit filed in Delaware, according to the archdiocese. He denies the allegation.

After telling parishioners about the matter over the weekend, Flood asked his parish to pray for the person who made the allegation.

David Clohessy of SNAP suggests Flood should be suspended pending resolution of the charges. I agree, especially given the history convictions in cases like this. It is better to be safe than sorry.

That is just horrible that he would ask the parish to pray for the person who made the allegation. He should be stood down pending the investigation have the churches not learnt the lesson provided time and time again. Don't act like self-inflated, over-cocky, pompous twats, it makes you look incompetent and stupid when you are wrong.

History keeps repeating itself in the catholic church. This story is just another of the same old same old. I grew up in the church back in the 50s. Could have never believed for one second a priest could do anything wrong. Information available now tells us in the USA alone sexual predator priests have been charged/convicted in all 195 dioceses in the United States and many with multiple priests charged. Every major country in the world has had epidemic catholic priest/bishop predators. The church authorities have LIED, covered up and shuffled these guys around (mums the word)
So called good priests looked the other way to save their own sorry asses from being booted out. I feel terrible for the thousands of victims of these predators and for the thousands that went to their graves because no one at the time would ever believe them. I can't imagine what they went through. Shame on the catholic church....UNBELIEVABLE!
I know it really is despicable that these people can claim to be proprietors of goodness and happiness when that goodness and happiness involves them taking liberties with their supposed charges.
