They knew

But then, we always knew they did.

The former No. 2 official of the Catholic church in Chicago admitted that he knew 25 priests broke the law by sexually abusing children but did not report them, according to depositions made public Tuesday

They knew and hid the knowledge from those who needed it most. They knew and fought to keep it secret. They knew and kept priests in their jobs. They knew and kept silent.

Bishop Emeritus Raymond E. Goedert's should be prosecuted. He should resign. He should be fired. He should be held accountable. Right?

Yes he should be charged with a crime but which one I couldn't say. I know they have laws making it illegal to not report crimes.

Myself I think that the governments of the world should force the Catholic Church to open an account and pay for all the cost of the investigations and for all the treatment of those that have been abused. I wouldn't have a problem with them charging the church for the cost on imprisoning them.
Well, being an even tempered, rational, and non-judgmental camel -- my perspective on the good Bishop is that
HE SHOULD BE BEATEN TO WITHIN AN INCH OF HIS MISERABLE LIFE, INCARCERATED FOR 25 YEARS, AND BUTT FUCKED BY HIS HIV POSITIVE CELL MATE NIGHTLY.

there, that felt better.
thank you.

I don't know how much more of this I can stand. This sick religion needs to go! I don't like feeling this kind of anger and hate, and I need to find a more effective channel for it than just ranting on my blog. I'm just not sure what else I can do.
It is almost par for the course, when you hear of a pedophile or abusive predatory priest, that you also hear of the Catholic Church hierarchy knew of the allegations and chose to protect their brand, rather than protect the children.
*Deep sigh*
There are no words that could come close to justifing his actions. It's... unbelievable.
