Wiccan stab thyself

I do not make this stuff up.

So these Wiccans snuck into the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon around midnight to perform some kind of  luck ceremony. While performing this nonsensical ceremony, Katherine Gunther stabbed herself in the foot with a sword.

Ha ha...

Oak Hills is home to a historically famous murder victim, Sylvia Likens.

This cemetery holds the remains of Sylvia Likens, a sixteen year old girl who was slowly tortured and beaten to death over a period of months in 1965. Sylvia and her younger sister had been staying at the home of Gertrude Baniszewski at the time of her death. Left in the care of Gertrude by her carnie father, Sylvia became the victim of gradually worsening abuse by Gertrude, her children and other children from the neighborhood who were encouraged to harm her.

I wonder if there is a connection?

"Gunther said she was performing the ceremony to give thanks for a recent run of good luck."

Her luck not only ran out...evidently it ran through her foot! Silly wiccans.

Hi Joey, hope you're doing well.

Yes, I agree this is pretty silly. But after asking just about every Wiccan friend of mine, none could report ever hearing of Wiccan rituals performed in graveyards. I could find nothing on it in any of my books, either (and I have a lot). However, certain specialized or ethnic traditions of Witchcraft feature graveyard rituals, but usually these are for casting especially powerful curses, not for good luck! I have no privileged information as to what this lady was up to, but I'm suspicious "good luck" was not what this person was focusing on. Who knows, maybe it was the 'law of 3' demonstrating itself. :)
