Policy or Persecution?

Christine Lutz, a Seventh Day Adventist was asked to leave a Fort Worth City bus for reading her bible too loudly. She claimed to be observing the Sabbath by reading to her children on the way to church.

...'Oh, but it's the perfect time and the perfect place since it is our Sabbath and it is the time with the Lord and therefore I'm going to continue.' And I continued," she explained.

Then, a TRE supervisor came on board. Lutz also told him that she would not stop reading. She and her family were escorted off the bus.

Sounds like policy enforcement to me. I smell a fundie nutball.

I wonder if the story would have received the same coverage if it had been the Koran?

Had it been the Koran I think that it may have recieved the same coverage, but the tone would have been different! Know what I mean ;)

There is little doubt that this will be spun as evidence of the so-called war on Christianity, but the key for me is that she was reading not simply aloud but "too loudly." That should be sufficient to put this one to rest.

It's okay for her to impose her Bible reading on others, But it's not okay when the bus driver says "keep it down"?!?

What a load of crock!

A bus isn't exactly a public forum; maybe she's decided she wants to be the Rosa Parks of Christian Fundamentalism? Which would be a staggering insult to the memory of Rosa Parks'!

I did notice the news report was slanted toward the woman.

Carolyn ann - one of my Texas buddies turned me on to the story because of the biased coverage. It was as if, like vjack says, it were proof of the war on Christianity. What hogwash.

I know this woman from back in grade school--she was different then and has had a lot of problems. Her actions here do not surprise me.
