For others to conclude

Yet another reason to make sure Hillary Clinton never becomes our next president. When asked if she thinks Homosexuality is immoral, she declined to answer. let me help you Clinton - the answer is no.

Is anyone running for president going to say that homosexuality is NOT immoral?

Reality - no fundie christian votes if you do.

She later issued a clarification in which she states her belief that homosexuality is not immoral. I am no big fan of Hillary, but she may be on the right side of this one after all. Maybe.

There is a way that everyone has to play the game just to get elected, and that is to avoid any absolutes that would automatically preclude votes from the middle America. Once elected though...

I know so many College educated, middle class people who believe in the possibility of ghosts, UFO's, and precognition/telepathy and who also feel homosexuality is immoral (or that gays can CHANGE if they really want to). Otherwise these are the nice normal constituents of our communities.
So forget pissing off the fundies and ultra-conservatives, many of the middle-of-the-road voters have their own coded ideologies concerning abortion and gay issues.

Rumour has it that Ms. Clinton has strong empathy with the GLBT community. (no malice intended). Funny, I loved Barbara Jordan and Ann Richards as legislators and both were closeted lesbians.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed in this too. Despite her later clarification, she needs to dump the political consideration of attempting to offend nobody and just speak her mind.

Good points by anonymous. Hillary does indeed have empathy for the GL community ... rumors even suggest that it may have gone a little further than empathy. This is pure politics on her part. Does she really want to be elected Pres on the votes of anti-gay bigots? McCain apparently doesn't have these scruples. I was hoping she might.
