Just a comment that has nothing to do with this specific posting: As a non-theist in Texas, I've noticed a tone in your blog that doesn't jibe. I know a few locals who claim to be Free Thinkers but are just as guilty at wielding bias and hatred as all those bible thumpers they're supposed to be intellectually and rationally superior to. I support your efforts and have enjoyed several posts. Where you lose me at times is the over-generalized and oversimplified conclusions that are sometimes drawn. Please forgive the possible insult - it's just a little too Rush Limbaugh in tone at times, or maybe you're going for Howard Stern. They both can be entertaining at times if you find misguided pompousness funny. Maybe I'm mistaking the incongruity as deprecating when it is meant as humor. Whatever..., I applaud your effort, it's more than most (including me) are willing to do.
I let my sarcasm run wild, and I really don't like fundies, so I tend to be harsh in my treatment of them. I am reasonable through - If I screw something up, I admit it. If I oversimplify, I eventually do some deeper thinking and correct the situation. But the reality is that I am sarcastic as hell and sometimes it comes off as being mean. If you see something you don’t like – point it out. I’ll give it another look.

Well, that makes you a gentleman and a scholar.
