A Christian response to the Blasphemy Challenge

Christians have started posting responses to the blasphemy challenge. I'm not a big fan of the blasphemy challenge - it seems well... blasphemous. Just kidding, what I mean to say is that it seems juvenile and pointless. Just saying you are an atheist is deigning the existence of god, why bother insulting Christians? Of course, I did the same thing when I was 24. It did not seem so juvenile then.

The Christian responses have been predictable. Except for Stephen, he seems reasonable. Go figure.

That's right, atheists are deep thinkers, whereas Christians and other religious acolytes see the world with blinkers on, through rose colored glasses, through a fog of unsubstantiated evidence.

I wish more of my Christian Peers followed that guy’s example. If more of us "religious acolytes" understood the threat many atheist's here in the States are under, isn't it possible we may try to help ya'll out?

Until I found deep thoughts I thought all Atheist were pig headed elitist whose main function in life was insulting my or any other person’s faith. Now I understand that my view was wrong and that we not only have a freedom of religion, but a freedom from religion as well.

The YouTube video is an excellent find - thank you for posting it.

It is nice, and reassuring to see someone who is capable of a rational debate without condemning all non-believers to the flames of hell.

....which is, of course, why they started Harvard, Yale, Princeton, the University of Paris, the University of Oxford, University of Chicago, Brown University, and many others.

Because Christians are all shallow anti-intellectuals. Including C. S. Lewis, Søren Kierkegaard, D. James Kennedy (pastor of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale, FL - named one of the top 100 intellectuals in the 20th century), John Milton (wrote Paradise Lost AND writings against Charles I, the tyrant of England in those days), T.S. Eliot (see his later works), John Donne, John Duns Scotus, and many others.

And I, of course, think the world is absolutely perfect... Right...
It's not very polite to generalize that all Christians see the world "with blinders on". Yes - some (many, even) do. But to say ALL do is somply NOT the case. And apparently, even if they see te world from a flawed perspective, they've done it some good. Think, for a second, about Mother Theresa...

arron - I don't have a problem with Christian - Fudnies, who happened to be Christians, tend to wear the blinders, rose colored glasses, and live in a fog of unsubstantiated evidence.

Fundies start universities - like Bob Jones - which results in better educated fundies - which is nothing to be proud of of.
