Advice to Christian Bloggers from the RCG

Blogging is evil, evil I tell you! Don't even thing about blogging, it is a tool of the devil.

People naturally want to make a mark in this world; they want to make a difference, and many believe blogs will allow them to do this. However, most blogs, especially by teenagers, serve as nothing more than public diaries. (Of course, there is nothing inherently wrong with a personal diary, as long as it is kept private.) Certainly, professional weblogs can make a positive difference within some elements of society. However, teen blogging does not.

Kids - leave blogging to the professionals please, we no what we are doing. Well... kind of anyway. As professionals, we would never ever use idle words or profanity, and everything we write is 100% truth. Word up!

Then there is the language itself. Here is a mild example: “If your a hater then whateva i dont have time 4 your negativity in my positive world.” Phrases such as “screwed up,” “I dunno,” and every type of swear word are commonly used. One blog by a young twentysomething in a splinter church group used the acronym “OMG,” which is a shorthand way to take God’s name in vain.

OMG is taking the lords name in vain? What if you're like me and think Oh my Gosh, when you type OMG, huh? Did you think about that? Too bad there is no short hand for the f word? Because I write  it all the time but always edit it out. I wonder if Christian kids drop "f" bombs?

The basic message of the RCG is that Christian teenagers should not blog. Blogs are evil. Teens who use blogs are being willful and disobedient. It's ok for the adults, but teens should keep silent. Something tells me that this advice will fall on deaf ears. I dunno, let's call it experience.
