Notes

Living in Southern California has it advantages and its disadvantages. One of the disadvantages is the use of palm trees as decorative features on commercial property. I actually hate it almost as much as I hate houses that use tar paper and white rocks as roofing material (don't ask, it's irrational). The parking lot at the Buena Park Mall is palm tree anarchy. It's urban ugly at its worst.

This photo is an entry in the Not So Buena photography project hosted here at Deep Thoughts. If you would like to participate with photo's from your own city, see the instructions on this post.

I always thought the palm trees were one of the nice things about SoCal. The traffic, on the other hand, makes me crazy very quickly.

The traffic is murder. I hate it. The palm trees, oh man. There are so many of them, thousands and thousands really. The offer so little protection from the sun, and there are so damn ugly unless they are cared for. Like most things in life, moderation is a good thing.
Interesting project- I may have to join in - even in lovely rural Wiltshire there is some uglinessI visited LA a couple of years back- arriving there after spending some time in New Zealand- the shock of the dirt, the heat, the traffic anf the general ugliness and overcrowdedness of the place was overhwleming after being in peaceful, freindly, clean New Zealand
