Sometimes pastors do the right thing

I beat the hell out of pastors here on my blog. But I am also reminded, by a constant flow of emails I might add, that pastors sometimes do the right thing. Take pastor Pete Baker of the Fairfax Assembly of God Church. When he found out about allegations of sexual abuse on the part of Fairfax Middle School vice principal and congregant Donald Ricketts, Baker dispensed good advice and then called the police.

He said the family of the girl first reported the allegations to him, in mid-April. Baker said he then explained what he'd been told to Ricketts and recommended he call his wife, tell his boss and go home -- which Ricketts did. Baker said he also immediately contacted the Sheriff's Department.

The victim in this case is a 14-year-old girl who claims she was molested over three years on multiple occasions, mostly at church. It will be interesting to see the evidence.

We all know that most Religious Leaders of the flocks of sheep are good people. But the Sheep need to get with the program, trusting your children safety to anyone without question because they are a holy man / Woman? Is the main cause of most of these cases of PredoPastors. And just because a person wears a Miniature ancient Roman Torture device around they're neck ( A CROSS) does not make them above reproach. Even hunters wear Camouflage . Protect your children well ,insist on Chaperons,or become one yourself.
Yep. If we're going to slap them when they do the wrong thing, we need to pat them on the back when they do the right thing.
Did he do the right thing? If so, why has he left Ricketts in the church? Why are the girls not in the church? He is really willing to risk the safety of the children in his church? I am sure he is a good man and a good pastor, but what kind of man leaves a man that may be a molester in a church where he can harm more children, there are what...3 or 4 girls? If you had a daughter, would you feel safe with this man still attending YOUR church? I suppose the questions could go on forever. I am not so sure that Pastor is doing the right thing.
