Gideons Provide Bibles to Texas Students

"I am not atheist — I believe in God," she told FOXNews.com. "But I just don't want any religion forced on my child at school. That's why my child goes to a public school."

I am not used to common sense on religion coming from FOX News or Texas.

Gideons are distributing bibles to public schools in Frisco, Texas. School administrators said they allowed it to stop more aggressive proselytizing taking place on public sidewalks outside of their schools.

Frisco Independent Schools allowed Gideons International to display Bibles on tabletops in all 13 of the district's middle and high schools last week. Officials say it didn't violate the law, but some parents say school is not the place to be offering the Good Book.

"I was never notified by the schools that they were going to allow this. I was a little shocked,"…

I have a suggestion, how about a good old fashion book burning? Or simply turn the fire house on the pests, or rotten eggs. They will eventually get the message. Of course, my point it that school officials should have addressed the real issue rather than appeasing these nutballs.

How about some people get together and pass out copies of the Koran, or excerpts from The God Delusion, God is not Great and other atheist books? If the Christians can pass out literature they can't legally prohibit others from doing so. However in their usual manner they'll have a fit if people are giving anything but a Buybull to their little ones. So they'll be the ones pushing to have a new law banning distribution of anything to students by anybody but school personnel on or near school property. Problem solved!
When I was a kid, we had a daily prayer, we recited the Pledge of Allegiance, we got "pops", and we were taught to say "ma'am" and "sir". Now most of that's gone and what do you have in its place? The school district police department.

What's better? Training up a child and giving him/her the basis for self-control or coercion?

Those Gideons had every legal right to be doing what they were doing. And you atheists would resort to book-burning to restrict their (your) freedom. How very tolerant. Those really ARE deep thoughts. What about the free market place of ideas touted by atheists when they want to espouse one of their cockamamie ideas?

I challenge you to show me one child that was harmed and I also challenge you to show me one child that was coerced into receiving a Testament that they didn't want. The Gideons merely created an opportunity for those students to exercise one of their freedoms.

I say bring on the Koran and the delusional God Delusion, etc. God's truth and love as exposed in those Testaments in the person of Jesus Christ will overcome the hatred and rantings of all of those others.

I throw down one more challenge: Try reading the New Testament. Start with the Gospel of John even if it's just an exercise in "know thine enemy". But be careful - It might change your life!
