Pastor Lawrence Webber, whom police call an associate pastor at Reeder Memorial Baptist church in Charlotte, NC, was arrested for sexually molesting children.
Lawrence Webber, 60, is charged with three counts of first-degree rape and five counts of indecent liberties with a child. Police said there are at least two victims.
Webber is a convicted pedophile. He is registered as a sex offender in the state of North Carolina for a 1997 conviction. His church will not confirm if Webber worked in any capacity, nor will they confirm if the alleged victims were members of the church.
Hiring a convicted pedophile must come with some legal entanglements. I'm sure the church is acting to protect its bottom line. It is a shame. This church needs to tell the community and its members how they let a wolf feed among the sheep.
Police think there may be more victims.
