Is this presidential?

Part of what I want to do over this next four years is simply ask this question, are Trump’s words or actions presidential? I think this is fair. What about you?

I’m going with no, not presidential.

Text: Just had a very open and successful presidential election. Now professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting. Very unfair!

I think that our sense of what is and is not presidential is very much in flux, especially now that Trump will be our next president. Of course, this has always been a bit of a moving target. Bill Clinton certainly did some things many did not consider presidential while he was president (as did JFK). I thought that Hillary Clinton said some things during her campaign that were not terribly presidential (e.g., deplorables). My guess is that Trump is going to redefine for many people what being presidential means.

I think its an objective issue and related to the office. I can ask, what is the ideal? What is our tradition? I can then measure against behavior. I’m sure Trump will trip over his tongue on a regular basis though. I’m not sure I can keep up.
