Baptist pastor Gerald Heard arrested

Baptist pastor Gerald Heard of Carencro, LA, was arrested on charges that he molested two young children in the mid-90s. Heard is the pastor at Temple Baptist Church (3501 N University Ave, Lafayette, LA 70507). He is also the president of World Missionary Support Services, which is registered at the same address. 

The Facebook page for the church is down as of the date of this post and I cannot find a website for the church or its associated business.

World Missionary Support Services is staffed by Gerald W. Heard (President), Roy W. Heard (Vice-President) and Warren L. Heard (Secretary, Treasurer). The church and the business fall into the Baptist family business category of churches, which means it had little or no oversight.

Yard sales in the pastor's front yard, and donations of food, clothing and medical supplies garnered needed provisions, which were shipped to people whose families were suffering from Ebola. Pastor Heard himself traveled there to do what he could to help and serve the people there. I myself, contributed to this, and I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever that it was being used exactly for what it was intended. No need for you to insinuate something sinister was going on with World Missionary Support Services in your article about Pastor's downfall. One does not have anything to do with the other. The whole family works towards helping those people who were affected by Ebola during the crisis and still need help. You will never find a more godly family anywhere.

It sounds like a noble cause, but then, helping people in need always does. When pastors are accused of a sexual crime, I like to look at the whole picture. There are allegations that he abused a child, but what does the rest of the story tell us and how does that affect our perception of his character?

Mr. Ford is serving time right now and will be incarcerated for the next 16 months or so. The molestation was not in the mid-90s but before that. Please consider his family when judging. This took them by surprise as well, and they are suffering tremendously for this, much more than he is. His wife, who had not worked outside the home, is suffering the most. Instead of gossiping, please pray for the family.

I hope the dumb son of a bitch had his anus tore up by the most vile bastards while he is/was incarcerated. To molest your own children then to do it to your grandchildren.....Just a really nasty bastard.

Does anyone know the outcome of this situation?
Was he found guilty if so what was the sentence and where will he be serving?

Update for Mike or anyone else who wants to know. Outcome was that he got 7 years for molestation of a juvenile. Family was hurt badly but did not cover it up. They took appropriate actions. Kudos there. Turns out he did not molest his grandchildren (not much consolation, but a little). He deserved to get life or worse. Can't say where he is serving.
