See this face? Does it look like somebody who can abuse children? No? That’s because anybody is capable of this type of abuse. A pastor is just a man (or woman). There is nothing special about being a pastor. Anybody can be one. Anyone…
How well do you know your pastor or your youth pastor? Why give another person unsupervised access to your child? Why take the risk that the nice man telling bible stories to your children is not only taking advantage of young minds but young bodies as well?
Hypocrisy. Deal with it.

Background checks are only good for identifying those who have been caught, it does identify those who may or will prey on the vulnerable. Unfortunately, your piece is a little misleading as well. As many churches have learned, we do not want to leave our children "unsupervised" as you call it, so many churches - Fairview included - have multiple people in classrooms, conduct background checks, and have windows in the doors so parents can look in at any time. These precautions are there to protect the children and the volunteers/workers who can sometimes be falsely accused. The goal is a safe environment where children can learn and enjoy time with other children their age.
We all have to deal with the hypocrisy of those those who lie and manipulate others for their own pleasure or joy, that is not just true of someone who claims to be Christian. I take from your post above that you would not condemn someone of molesting children only if they are Christian, but anyone. Evil takes on many forms, and evil people will claim anything that helps them get what they want. As for Mr. Yeamans, we will wait and see what the courts and investigation determines as far as guilt or innocence.
