Baptist pastor David Rutherford Downs was re-arrested for sexual battery and lewd and lascivious conduct. The Orange-Osceola State's Attorney's office had elected not to pursue changes just a month before.
The charges stem from allegations that the former Chuluota pastor had inappropriate sexual contact with a child under the age of 12 after over the course of several years.
Downs was first arrested in July 2012 after a victim came forward to law enforcement saying she had been touched and battered by the preacher on numerous occasions throughout her childhood.
He stepped down as pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church after the charges surfaced. Church officials say he is no longer a member.

He faced justice and was released of all charges. It is heartening to know a good man was found not guilty
Rev. Downs was acquitted and for good reason. He is innocent of the charges. In Orlando, it doesn't matter if you guilty or innocent. Just the accusation is enough to ruin your life.
What ever became of David Downs? Did the truth about the situation/allegations ever come out?
"Victim" admitted she was lying because he was a tough-love kind of parent. Charges were dropped, but dude's reputation is basically ruined for life. All it takes is an accusation. If you google his name, you won't see any of that in the search results, only the fact he was arrested and charged. Yay "justice!"
Did you also know he locked his wife & kid's in the house, whenever he went anywhere without them, even just to go fishing with my husband??
That is also abuse, even if it's not the criminal kind!!
I know no one wants to believe anyone capable of such atrocities, especially some one we know that pretends to be a good person!! I also know he did even more then the things he was accused of!!
Having been an abused child myself, I can tell you there are many more that never came forward!!
The fact is a good man doesn't do those thing's!!
But he's Not a good man!!!
What he's done has had long reaching ramifications!!
I also know that for a fact!!
Please open your eyes, he can not be allowed to go somewhere else & perpetrate his perversion on anymore children!!
It's literally ruined innocent lives!!��
There's tough love & then there's abuse!!
When the media & fanatical people ascend on the person that's the accuser, parents only want to protect their child from the hateful David followers!!
If it was so cut & dry he wouldn't have been arrested again! I can tell you those things did happen & it's a shame that the victim was yet again victimized! A child none the less!! Shame on you!!

It's so sad that supposedly good people are so very quick ro persecute a child for daring to tell on an adult abusing her, & you people are making her the criminal!!! Again Shame on You!!
Those girl's lives have been irrevocably changed forever by this Not Good Man!!!
