I don't get tattoos

I don't. I grew up with them of course, and I was in the service. I passed on getting an eagle at age 19 because it would have wrapped around my whole arm. Today I see them everyplace I go. I must be getting old.

I absolutely love them, at least the good ones. And yet I don't have a single one and probably never will. I think I'm too indecisive to commit to anything so permanent.

You love looking at them but don't go for them yourself Vjack? I get that. I find some tattoos attractive and some, well not so much. I had a chance to shoot a girl I know through a family connection with the coolest tats. I thought they were beautiful, but then I shot a girl with prison tats and thought, wtf?

I don't think I would ever get one myself.

I've always thought that investing in a publicly-traded plastic surgery corporation would be a good bet, as people eventually get tired of tattoos and piercings. But these sorts of businesses are usually small and privately-owned.

I got my first tattoo in my early 20's. I got it because, to me, it was a sign of my reclaiming my body and choosing what happened to it. In my childhood my body was not my own. I was molested, abused, and had surgeries from the time I was 6 months old until grade 12. Until I got my tattoo, I had no control over what happened to my body. I wasn't allowed to say no to anything.

My first tattoo was my first no.

I've gotten a few others since then and I love each of them. I think some people do get them for the "cool factor" and that's a bit silly for such a permanent thing. But whatever the reason, to get one or not get one, I admire the people that do it (or not) for their own reasons without worry of what other people think.
