When I was young my grandfather would impart some of his wisdom while we worked together on one of his many projects. He once told me that as he grew older the frequency of funerals increased to the point where you start to think everyone you knew as a younger man is dead. I laughed at the time. I remember thinking, how could that be?
I'm heading to a funeral in a few minutes. It's my fourth in three months. I've missed four others. People die all the time, but when you are older, it really does seem like everyone you know is dying.
Such is life.
