I saw a deadhead sticker on a Cadillac

Don Henley sang those words a long time ago, yet, the still stick in my mind. They go through my head every time I see an ixthus sticker on the back of a $70K BMW. I saw one today, it was a metal symbol in gold attached to the trunk. Would Jesus own a BMW? More importantly, would or should one of his followers own a BMW? It seems completely inconsistent with is core message, so why do it unless you were your religion like clothing?

Have you heard of "prosperity gospel", aka "blab it and grab it", aka "word faith", aka "name it and claim it"? Basically Jesus wants you to be filthy rich, and in fact the richer you are, the more Jesus loves you.

Yes. It is disgusting.
I have no real evidence for the wild claim I am about to make, but it seems that the views of at least 90% of American Christians can be reduced to the following: Jesus wants me to do whatever I want to do. I keep trying to convince myself that this can't possibly be true, but I find that I keep coming back to it.
